Job SummaryThe Laborer performs a variety of general labor, facility support, grounds maintenance, material handling, cleaning, and upkeep duties in support of operations at MCAS Camp Pendleton. The position assists skilled trades personnel and maintenance staff with routine and preventative maintenance activities and helps ensure assigned facilities, equipment, grounds, and work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and serviceable condition.
The Laborer may work both indoors and outdoors and must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions. Due to airfield operating hours and mission requirements, shift work may be required. The employee must be available to respond to urgent or emergency maintenance requests as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities- Perform general labor and maintenance support duties as assigned.
- Assist skilled maintenance personnel with facility repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep.
- Perform routine cleaning of buildings, work areas, walkways, walls, and other assigned surfaces.
- Maintain grounds and exterior areas by removing trash, debris, leaves, weeds, and other materials.
- Assist with mowing, trimming, raking, landscaping, planting, and other grounds maintenance activities as required.
- Load, unload, move, and distribute materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and other items.
- Assist with the preparation of work areas and job sites for maintenance and repair activities.
- Operate basic hand tools and approved power equipment appropriate to assigned duties.
- Perform routine inspection and upkeep of tools, equipment, facilities, and work areas.
- Assist with preventative maintenance activities to support the proper functioning and operational readiness of assigned facilities and equipment.
- Maintain clean, orderly, and safe work areas.
- Collect and properly dispose of trash, debris, and other waste in accordance with applicable requirements.
- Follow all safety procedures, security requirements, environmental regulations, and site-specific policies.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and properly use tools and equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, maintenance issues, or other concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
- Support emergency or urgent maintenance activities when directed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform general manual labor and physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

- Ability to safely operate basic hand tools and power equipment after appropriate training.
- Ability to safely lift, carry, push, pull, and move materials and equipment.
- Basic understanding of workplace safety practices.

- Ability to work in a professional manner around employees, customers, contractors, and government personnel.
- Ability to comply with security, safety, and site-specific requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous general labor, maintenance, construction, groundskeeping, custodial, or facilities support experience preferred.
- Experience working with hand tools or power equipment preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and work with hands for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier materials with assistance or appropriate equipment.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks as required.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors for extended periods.
- Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wind, dust, dirt, noise, and other weather conditions.
- Ability to hear and see adequately to perform assigned duties and maintain workplace safety.
- Ability to safely work around operating equipment, vehicles, machinery, and other workplace hazards.
- Must be available to work assigned shifts based on airfield operating hours and contract requirements.
- Must be available to work weekends, holidays, overtime, or adjusted schedules when required by operational needs.
