Position Summary

The Operations and Maintenance Technician (O&M Tech) is responsible for the day-to-day safe operation of all onsite equipment and safety systems while following established Environmental, Health & Safety Standards to achieve an accident and injury free safe work environment. The O&M Tech is also required to follow and adhere to the established Quality Standards and Procedures designed to supply reliable power to our customer(s).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain the Power Generation Facility in accordance with OEM and DPS guidelines.
  • Maintain an electronic logbook of operational activities.
  • Troubleshoot plant process abnormalities/alarms using various indicators and historical trends.
  • Handle daily routines including water treatment, equipment inspection, and log sheet readings.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain DPS issued online training program requirements.
  • Issue safety work permits and perform lock‑out/tag‑out of process equipment.
  • Support ammonia liquid bulk delivery systems and maintain storage tank production.
  • Inspect work areas for mechanical problems, safety hazards, and unusual operating conditions.
  • Ensure all plant safety procedures are followed.
  • Attend and participate in monthly safety meetings.
  • Perform troubleshooting and minor adjustments or submit work requests as required.
  • Work effectively with employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Assist in reviewing and updating operating procedures.
  • Aid in development of asset‑management based maintenance programs.
  • Comply with company safety and environmental regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to troubleshoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to read and understand Piping and Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs).
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean facility equipment and components.
  • Experience with computers and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) preferred.
  • Experience with transformers and Gas‑Insulated Switchgear preferred.
  • Experience with gas turbine operations and maintenance preferred.
  • Understanding of protective relay equipment (SEL, ABB, GE, Siemens, etc.).
  • Prepare and maintain reports of tests, repairs, and maintenance.
Education, Experience And Training
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Previous experience operating or maintaining power generation facilities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts including nights and weekends.
  • Highly motivated self‑starter with desire to learn.
Certifications

Valid Driver’s License, with Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) within the acceptable parameters of Company Policy, required.

Physical Demands
  • Requires operation of heavy equipment.
  • Requires employee to stand up to 75% of the time.
  • Requires employee to sit up to 25% of the time.
  • Requires employee to climb ladders or stairs to inspect, repair, and paint equipment and must be able to maintain balance on stairs and/or ladders without assistance.
  • Must be able to communicate and respond to coworkers, customers, and emergency cues/alarms in person and on the telephone, including use of mobile devices.
  • Must be able to frequently lift at least 10 pounds, infrequent lifting of > 50 lbs.
  • High noise environment (>85 dbA) will occur with ear protection.
  • Potential controlled exposure to hazardous chemicals.
  • Requires work in outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and extreme cold.
  • Requires moving and maintaining self‑independent positions—stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl—to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Must wear all required PPE, including fire‑retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel‑toed boots.
  • Requires an employee to frequently type and use computer and other office equipment such as a copier, printer, calendar, telephone, etc.
Travel Requirements

Position may require travel, including overnight stays, depending on business requirements.
