PART-TIME VENUE TECHNICIAN

Division: Cultural Services
Work hours: Must be available to work during days, nights, holidays and weekend events. This is a part-time position - up to 29 hours per week.
Rate of pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour (Depending on qualifications and experience.)
General PurposeSupports daily operations of the Ogden Amphitheater, Dumke Arts Plaza, The Corner, and Union Station, with a primary focus on event setup, execution, and venue readiness. Assists with basic facility upkeep to ensure safe, clean, and functional spaces. Reports to the Venue Coordinator.
Essential Job Junctions- Set up, tear down, and support events (tables, chairs, barricades, fencing, signage, etc.).
- Prepare venues before events and restore spaces afterward, including cleaning and resetting.
- Assist with event logistics such as traffic control, crowd flow, and placement of equipment and materials.
- Place and service waste and recycling containers during events.
- Open and close facilities; provide on-site support during events as needed.
- Assist with city-sponsored and partner events, including holidays and special programs.
- Install and remove banners, signage, and seasonal event materials.
- Support basic lighting and LED screen operations (as trained).
- Monitor venues to ensure safety, cleanliness, and readiness for public use.
- Perform minor maintenance and report larger repair needs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and event supplies in an organized manner.
- Perform grounds upkeep, including snow removal and general appearance.
- Follow safety procedures and support risk management efforts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Experience in event support, facilities, or related work preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Valid Utah driver's license (or ability to obtain).
- Employees must complete NIMS trainings IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800.
- Ability to support event operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles.
- Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain safety standards.
Physical Requirements
- Work environment is primarily indoors and outdoors, which may expose the employee to moderate to very loud noises, wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibrations.
- This position requires heavy work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the visual ability to see clearly at close (less than 20 inches) and far (20 feet or more) distances, identify and distinguish colors, observe an area that can be seen up and down or the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaching with hands and arms, climbing, balancing, stooping, lifting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, and smelling.
