Location: Liberty Elementary
* The hours for this position will be Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 8:00pm and Friday 4:00pm - 7:00pm. Hours may be adjusted to meet facility programming needs.
General Purpose
Responsible for the general maintenance and operation of the school building. Duties include maintaining, repairing, and/or operating the school building, equipment, and grounds.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities- Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures.
- Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, events, etc.
- Strip, clean, buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets.
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, high speed buffers and vacuums, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, furniture, etc.
- Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure buildings when facilities are not in use checking for unlocked doors and windows, report any unauthorized occupants, turn off the lights.
- Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis.
- Wash accessible interior and exterior windows, clean blinds, and launder cleaning rags and dust mops.
- Report major damages to the Maintenance Department for repair.
- Tend to emergencies when necessary.
- Attend safety meetings and other related meetings.
- Take classes as required in cleaning methods and techniques, new products, First Aid, CPR, and working relationships.
- Handle recycling materials.
- Remove garbage from the parking lot.
- Clear snow as needed.
- May trim trees and bushes.
- May mow, edge, and weed eat lawns.
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Six (6) months of related experience.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components.
Physical Requirements
- The job regularly requires above average strength and/or stamina. Job duties may involve lifting and carrying of heavy materials/objects (50-100 pounds).
- Occasionally work is carried out in disagreeable conditions. Exposure to adverse working conditions, inclement weather, dirt/dust, noise or fumes, and/or exposure to possible accidents, health hazards or minor injuries produce an environment that involves adjusting to or accommodating these uncomfortable conditions.
