Agency Overview

Serve with Purpose. Support the Mission. Keep Ohio Ready.

The Ohio Adjutant General’s Department is seeking a Facility Maintenance Specialist 1 to help maintain safe, functional, and mission-ready facilities in support of the men and women who serve our state and nation. This is more than a maintenance role — it is an opportunity to contribute to a military-friendly organization that proudly supports our military personnel in the mission to protect our communities, the great State of Ohio, and our nation.

If you take pride in hands‑on work, value teamwork and accountability, and want your work to directly support operational readiness, this may be the opportunity for you.

Job Description What You’ll Do

In this role, you will perform routine and semi-skilled facility maintenance work to support the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of assigned buildings, grounds, and related equipment.

Responsibilities include:

  • performing preventive maintenance and routine repair work on building systems and facility components
  • assisting with minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical maintenance tasks
  • supporting HVAC and mechanical room upkeep through routine preventive maintenance
  • performing general building repair, installation support, and facility upkeep
  • operating grounds, snow removal, and other maintenance equipment as assigned
  • completing work orders, maintaining records, and communicating maintenance needs and work status
  • using required computer‑based systems for email, timekeeping, training, and employee self‑service functions
  • responding to urgent maintenance needs and supporting continuity of operations
What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

  • takes ownership of assigned work and follows through
  • makes safety and quality a priority
  • communicates clearly and works well with others
  • can adapt to changing priorities and operational needs
  • demonstrates dependability, accountability, and professionalism
  • takes pride in supporting a mission‑focused organization
Our Environment

The Ohio Adjutant General’s Department is a military‑friendly workplace where public service, teamwork, and mission support matter. Our team helps provide the foundation that allows our military personnel and state operations to function effectively. Every role contributes to readiness, service, and support.

We value the principles reflected in our Warfighter Fundamentals — including ownership, communication, quality, accountability, efficiency, and teamwork — and we look for employees who bring those same values to their work each day.

Working Conditions

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a maintenance environment and may involve exposure to changing weather, temperature extremes, dust, dirt, noise, moisture, and maintenance‑related hazards. Regular use of hand tools, power tools, ladders, and motorized equipment is required, along with frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, lifting, and carrying materials or equipment.

Why Join Us

This is your chance to be part of something bigger. In this role, your work helps ensure our facilities remain safe, operational, and ready to support the mission. If you want to use your skills in a meaningful way and be part of an organization dedicated to service, readiness, and support, we encourage you to apply.
