Job Description

Evergreen Local School District. Job Description. The position reports to the Maintenance Coordinator and helps supervise district-wide maintenance services.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry and building system skills substantiated by training/work experience. Specific license/certification may be required as deemed appropriate by the board.
  • Ability to manage compliance with environmental, health and safety laws/regulations.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting/moving heavy items.
  • Available to work irregular hours/non‑traditional schedule as an “on‑call” employee when required.
  • Demonstrates a hands‑on leadership style and skill in developing and managing people.
  • Demonstrates sufficient math skills to calculate totals, percentages, ratios, and portions accurately.
  • Displays flexibility, reliability, self‑discipline and a willingness to take on challenging tasks.
  • Embodies high ethical standards/integrity. Accepts personal responsibility for decisions and conduct.
  • Exhibits effective time management and resourceful problem‑solving skills.
  • Interacts confidently with others and displays a strong customer‑service focus.
  • Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment.
  • Meets mandated health screening requirements following a conditional offer of employment.

  • Valid driver’s license. Meets prerequisite/ongoing qualifications to be covered by the district’s insurance carrier. Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is advantageous.
Essential Functions
  • Helps manage the effective delivery and advancement of maintenance operations, develop and implement a work plan, and ensure all tasks are completed within required time‑frames.
  • Addresses issues that arise during the absence of the maintenance supervisor and implements organizational practices that encourage employee commitment to change initiatives.
  • Performs custodial tasks as needed, including room set‑ups and exterior grounds cleaning, coordinates the pick‑up/delivery of maintenance supplies and equipment, and provides technical/manual skill in inspecting, repairing, and maintaining building equipment systems, furnishings and grounds.
  • Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment regularly, resolves problems and manages construction/renovation/demolition projects while monitoring contractor/vendor performance.
  • Coordinates the care of landscaped areas and athletic fields, maintains grounds‑keeping equipment, and helps update snow emergency plans and manage snow removal operations.
  • Assists with preparation/cleanup activities for district events, maintains building utilization records, assists with non‑school use of district facilities, and helps plan and deliver maintenance staff in‑service training programs.
  • Uses performance‑based safety standards to plan for equipment replacement and upgrades, evaluates operational performance, and identifies short and long‑range program needs and opportunities.
  • Protects district property by ensuring buildings and job sites are secured at the end of the day.
  • Exemplifies professionalism and fosters goodwill to enhance the district’s public image, cultivates relationships with the public, maintains a professional appearance, punctuality, and confidentiality.
  • Maintains open and effective communications, prepares accurate records, submits required paperwork on time, and participates in team resource sharing.
  • Pursues opportunities to enhance professional performance, participates in training, updates skills with technology, and works toward mastery of development goals.
