Facility Maintenance Manager

Position Summary:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the physical facility for a therapeutic school. Performs general maintenance duties to protect and preserve buildings, equipment, and furnishings.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Ohio driver's license (and ability to meet driver-eligibility standards to operate an agency-owned vehicle)
  • Three to five years' experience in general maintenance or facilities support, preferably in a school or behavioral health setting
  • General industry knowledge required, including HVAC, plumbing and electrical
  • Valid OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety and Health Card or ability to obtain within probationary period
  • Basic computer skills, including ability to utilize Microsoft Outlook and navigate websites
  • Ability to work professionally, effectively, and collaboratively with others
  • Self-starter. Comfortable working independently.

Essential Functions:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for general maintenance support for a designated building.
  • Maintains a clean and efficient work environment; performs regular walk-throughs to ensure properly maintained facility and equipment; when directed, serves as an on-site liaison with outside vendors regarding building and maintenance issues.
  • Prepares building for arrival of staff by turning on lights, replacing light bulbs, adjusting heating/cooling, clearing snow, salting walks and otherwise maintaining clear routes for emergency egress.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of emerging issues. Reports problems/unsafe conditions.
  • Assists with the pick-up, receipt and delivery of equipment, materials and other supplies as directed. Anticipates and replenishes consumable supplies as needed.
  • Reads/complies with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) information. Ensures that supplies are stored properly. Participates in occupational safety/health training as directed. Follows approved health/safety guidelines to clean up injuries involving chemicals, solvents, blood, body fluids and/or body tissues. Reports personal injuries to a supervisor.
  • Provides for the regular and orderly removal of trash. Removes debris on floors and grounds throughout the day.
  • Responsible for the general set-up of meeting facilities and office relocations. Moves and arranges furnishings. Spot cleans carpets and other areas as needed.
  • Responds to emergency situations regarding facility. Corrects defects/makes temporary repairs necessary (e.g., painting, drywall/plaster, glass replacement, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) until another maintenance professional can address.
  • Properly completes documentation (e.g., walkthrough checklists) as requested. Ensures vehicles are properly serviced and are in good working order (e.g., tires inflated). Assists with safety drills and other compliance-related activities.
  • Routinely inspects the exterior of the facility and grounds to ensure proper maintenance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to balance, bend, climb, crouch, kneel, reach, push, stoop, stand and sit
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate and ride in a vehicle
  • Ability to use heavy equipment, including but not limited to: power scrubbers, shampooers, power tools, hand tools, plumbing and electrical equipment
  • Ability to use a computer and keyboard (hand-eye coordination and repetitive movements related to keyboarding)
