Position Summary

Responsible for supervising and training BAC technicians, specifying and ordering materials and supplies, troubleshooting, programming, maintenance, and repair of building automation systems for OKCPS district buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Director of HVAC/EM and Energy Management Manager with the supervision and operation of all OKCPS building automation systems
  • Assist Energy Management Manager with the development and implementation of energy management strategies
  • Supervise and direct building automation control technicians
  • Provide training and technical support for building automation and HVAC technicians
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Building Automation Systems, routinely and on an emergency basis
  • Conduct end to end testing, download programming, start up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects
  • Modify controls to improve performance and function of processes
  • Use configuration software and other tools to troubleshoot or upgrade system performance
  • Use schematic or logic diagrams to diagnose system and equipment malfunctions
  • Maintain, repair and install instrumentation devices including controllers, transmitters, signal conditioners and related equipment
  • Develop and test software programs
  • Select, order, and track the delivery of materials for assigned projects
  • Recommend system enhancements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Assist in performing site specific training for owner/operator on the total building control system
  • Adhere to safety standards and provide safety awareness to site staff
  • Liaison with HVAC Field Technicians and contractors to provide technical assistance
  • Report problems or changes to management
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and other specifications pertaining to facilities and projects
  • Assist with project oversight by reviewing architectural drawings and project specifications and making recommendations
  • Assist with oversight of energy management contracts and contractors
  • Provide training to staff on building control systems operations
  • Ensure work on all projects complies with plans and specifications
  • Stay updated on current industry knowledge and BAS products
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities Required
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Three (3) years in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry
  • Strong knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and related subsystems
  • Experience with BAS system protocols BACnet, Modbus, LON and other open technologies
  • Ability to test and write modifications into systems software
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications
  • Knowledge of configuring and programming control panels
  • Advanced analytical and quantitative skills
  • Possession of a valid operator s driver s license and acceptable driving record as required by district insurance
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects and tight deadlines, adapting to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
  • Bachelor s degree in Electronics, Mechanical Systems, or related field
  • Two (2) years Windows networking experience
  • Experience with BAS systems including JCI, Siemens, Trane
  • Relevant experience may be substituted for formal education at a 2:1 ratio (for every 1 year of college lacking, 2 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted)
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Must have adequate manual dexterity to write legibly and operate a computer
  • Must have adequate visual acuity to read and interpret material
  • Requires normal hearing and clear speaking abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and access work which may require bending, stooping, and reaching
  • May periodically require work outside of normal hours, including weekends
  • Office duties performed in a well lighted, climate controlled environment
