We are looking for a skilled and forward-thinking Area Maintenance Manager to join our growing team supporting one of the world's largest online retailers.
This Area Maintenance Manager role is intended for an experienced maintenance leader with proven people leadership, material handling equipment experience, and the ability to support maintenance operations across assigned facilities. This is not an individual contributor, Planner, or Technician-level role. The selected candidate will be expected to lead a maintenance team, support operational performance, partner with site leadership, and drive accountability across safety, staffing, preventive maintenance, and equipment reliability.
This role is designed for an experienced maintenance leader who has successfully led maintenance teams in a fast-paced manufacturing, fulfillment, logistics, or distribution environment. The Area Maintenance Manager will support daily maintenance operations across assigned facilities, lead a team of maintenance employees, and partner closely with site leadership to drive safety, reliability, staffing alignment, and operational performance.

About the Role
As the Area Maintenance Manager, you will lead daily functions of material handling operations and maintenance across assigned facilities. You will help ensure safe working environments, support equipment reliability, and lead maintenance employees responsible for high-speed conveyance systems, material handling equipment, and related operational assets.
This role requires strong leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to balance people management, maintenance execution, client partnership, staffing needs, and operational priorities. The Area Maintenance Manager will partner with Maintenance Managers, site leadership, and client operations teams to help deliver consistent maintenance performance across the assigned area.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a safety-first culture where employees return home in the same condition in which they reported to work.
- Lead daily maintenance operations across assigned facilities or work groups.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and direction to a team of maintenance employees, with responsibility for approximately multiple direct reports, based on business need and site structure.
- Plan, schedule, and assign work to maintenance employees while monitoring quality, productivity, and completion of work.
- Lead and coordinate employees engaged in maintaining high-speed conveyance systems, material handling equipment, and other facility assets.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance execution to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Partner with Maintenance Managers, site leaders, and client operations teams to support departmental goals and business priorities.
- Assist leadership with staffing plans, labor utilization, overtime review, shift coverage, and workload balancing.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and terminations in partnership with leadership.
- Provide performance management, coaching, and development support to help team members grow and perform effectively.
- Formulate, communicate, and reinforce work standards, maintenance procedures, safety expectations, and operational routines.
- Review maintenance metrics and partner with leadership to identify trends, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate and lead Root Cause and Corrective Action activities to support continuous improvement.
- Help ensure PM, PDM, corrective work, and related maintenance documentation are completed accurately and on time.
- Support maintenance-related budget awareness, labor planning, and operational resource needs.
- Build positive working relationships with client partners, site leaders, maintenance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE's values.
- Travel between 2 assigned sites as needed to support operational priorities.
What You'll Need
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field, such as Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil, required.
- 4+ years of demonstrated experience leading and coaching employee performance in a manufacturing, fulfillment, logistics, distribution, or maintenance environment.
