Farm Improvement Worker
We are currently looking for a Full Time Farm Improvement Worker to join our Community Services Sod Unit 1 team located at the Chickasaw Farms working 8:00AM-5:00PM - Mo Tu We Th Fr.
Summary:
Performs activities relative to the day to day operations of Chickasaw Farms.
Responsibilities:
- Provides first class customer service to both internal and external customers and responds to inquiries, compliments, and/or complaints with professionalism, courtesy, and efficiency
- Completes all training and development requirements and participates in continuing education opportunities
- Works in a collaborative and supportive manner to support the productivity and safety of the work area, team members and customers of all types
- Maintains a clean, organized work area and ensures a safe environment
- Maintains and promotes professionalism
- Punctual and consistent in meeting start time, work schedule, attendance and other assigned work time metrics
- Adheres to Chickasaw Nation dress code standards
- Maintains knowledge of and follows all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines for assigned area
- Operates assigned equipment per instructions and approved safety practices
- Will be expected to assist in the welding fabrication of projects, repair and replace broken water lines and assist wherever needed in the mowing and maintenance of the Farm
- Will be expected to be able to service all tractors and vehicles at the Farm, to include oil and filter changes and topping off fluid levels
- Performs skilled and semi-skilled tasks concerned with general sod harvesting and installation, maintaining plants, grounds maintenance, etc.
- Landscaping and grounds maintenance
- Operates big roll sod harvester and small roll harvester, from the ground aspect as well as at the controls of the harvester
- Performs operation of a tractor, including use of a front-end loader, forklift, donkey as well as 3-point and PTO operated implements
- Shovel snow/ice from walks, driveways, parking lots and spread salt in needed areas
- Maintains equipment/machinery, systems and building by completing preventive maintenance schedules
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Competencies:
- Able to follow instructions, both written and oral
- Able to adhere to all scheduling and attendance requirements
- Good driving record and be insurable by the Chickasaw Nation
- Operate standard and automatic vehicles
- Basic operation, maintenance and repair of tools and equipment used in farming, landscaping, sod production and ag processes
- Ability to work independently
- Honesty, truthfulness, reliability, accountability
- Able to read, understand, apply, and retain knowledge of Chickasaw Nation, departmental, divisional and all other rules, regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines
- Knowledge of motor vehicle laws and regulations
- Able to verbally communicate in a professional and positive manner with other team members, departments, guests and management
Skills:
- Operate light and heavy equipment
- Knowledge, skill and ability to operate hand implements
Experience:
- 3 years directly related experience (nonessential)
Education:
- High School, GED or Equivalent (essential)
Credentials:
- Pass general background check
- Standard Driver's License (essential)
