The Childcare Housekeeping Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, sanitation, and overall orderliness of the O-Gah-Pah (OLC)/Downstream Learning Center (DLC) facilities. Duties include routine cleaning, floor care, laundry services, and ensuring a safe, clean and sanitary environment for staff and occupants.
Essential Job Functions- Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors using brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, and powered floor care equipment in classrooms and hallways.
- Clean rugs, carpets, and upholstered furniture using appropriate shampooing equipment.
- Break down boxes and dispose of them in designated recycling bins.
- Remove all trash, including diaper pails, and transport waste to dumpsters; clean and sanitize the interior and exterior of trash cans and diaper pails.
- Follow established procedures for the safe use of chemical cleaners and equipment to prevent damage and ensure safety compliance.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, and woodwork, including waxing and polishing as necessary.
- Restock supplies as needed.
- Complete assigned tasks on additional chore lists as required.
- Wash, dry, and fold laundry on a nightly basis.
- Clean the saferoom and all restroom facilities.
- Submit completed cleaning checklists to OLC/DLC administration mailboxes daily.
- Submit maintenance requests as needed.
- Support building safety and security by locking doors after hours and ensuring electrical appliances do not create hazards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Attend meetings, seminars, workshops, and training sessions as required to support professional development and program objectives.
- Basic knowledge of operating common housekeeping equipment, including industrial vacuum cleaners, step ladders, floor burnishers, power floor buffers, carpet shampooers, and steamers.
- Knowledge of housekeeping equipment functions, proper usage, troubleshooting techniques, and routine maintenance procedures necessary to ensure safe and effective operation.
- Knowledge of applicable policies, procedures, and safety practices to promote safe operations and protect individuals, property, and the facility.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, sound judgment, and attention to detail while working independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to obtain a favorable adjudication certification within 90 days of hire.
- Must successfully pass a tribal background investigation and drug screening.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing and qualify under the Quapaw Nation Motor Vehicle Policy.
One (1) to two (2) years of housekeeping, custodial, or related experience is preferred.
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent is required. Specialized training in a related field is preferred.
Physical Abilities- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require reaching above shoulder level.
- Ability to push, pull, squat, kneel, bend, and safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
- Visual acuity sufficient to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Manual dexterity and coordination required to grasp, manipulate, and handle objects.
- Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, seminars, and professional development activities.
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors at the O-Gah-Pah/Downstream Learning Center.
- Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and must be worn and/or used as required.
- Must maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity while working in a diverse environment.
