Maintenance Lineman-in-Charge

The successful candidate must abide by the residency requirement and live within a ten mile radius of the Okmulgee Post Office. Interested parties must complete an online application.

• Maintain maximum service to the membership by efficiently responding to outage reports and other service calls, minimizing service interruptions and ensuring operational efficiency and maximum safety for employees and the public.
• Ensure the highest possible degree of continuity of service to members.

• Accept assignment as required to any area within the project boundaries of the Cooperative.
• Maintain high morale and conduct; direct work activities of the district helper and other crew personnel, ensuring safety rules are followed.
• Implement work procedures set forth by the Cooperative and overseen by the General Superintendent.
• Properly prepare and submit all required reporting forms (tailgates, before and after photos, hold tags, etc.).
• Investigate consumer outage reports and take necessary action to restore service according to established policies and procedures.
• Observe and appraise crew performance and counsel crew members to help them improve and develop.
• Direct, train, and perform all types of line work.
• Keep familiar with RUS standards and specifications, National Electrical Safety Code, OSHA rules, and other applicable regulations for electrical distribution line design.
• Install or change out meters, transformers, capacitors, regulators, OCRs, sectionalizers, service drops, and other system devices.
• Work on energized conductors in accordance with prescribed procedures.
• Patrol, record, and repair distribution lines on a routine basis.
• Perform preliminary and final wiring verification of new and existing services, ensuring they meet Cooperative policy, and advise members on proper wiring procedures.
• Read consumer meters and other metering devices pertinent to operating the system.
• Install and maintain security and street lights where applicable.
• Evaluate distribution system in assigned area and submit monthly maintenance field reports.
• Identify hazards such as defective anchors and maintain alertness at all times.
• Assist and direct other crews on work assignments as required.
• Participate in emergency maintenance after normal working hours.
• Construct, revamp, and retire services as directed, maintaining required record data.
• Comply with all traffic laws, safety rules, and regulations while operating Cooperative vehicles or equipment.
• Perform special work assignments requested by members, civic groups, and other organizations to maintain good public and member relations.
• Submit routine or special reports on all activities performed.
• Participate in safety training programs and maintain safety awareness.
• Maintain records and inventory reports.
• Ensure safe use and preservation of all tools, vehicles, and special equipment.
• Trim trees and remove foreign objects from line right‑of‑way.
• Maintain courteous relationships with members at all times.
• Prepare accident reports and submit to General Superintendent.
• Operate sectionalizers, reclosers, regulators, and other system devices.
• Assist with annual and district meetings as required.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by the General Superintendent.
• Attend and participate in monthly job training and safety meetings.
• Answer phone during storm and outage conditions.

• Must have a valid Oklahoma Commercial Driver’s License and operate a motorized vehicle without assistance.
• Must effectively utilize a two‑way radio.
• Must climb poles 25 feet or greater and work in awkward positions.
• Must lift or move up to 50 pounds without external assistance.
• Must follow verbal and written instructions.
• Must evaluate obstructions, make rational decisions, and develop solutions.
• Must interact effectively with Cooperative personnel, business and industry representatives, members, and the general public.
