STATUS: Classified, Non-Exempt
HOURS OF WORK: Monday-Friday; 3:00pm - 11:30pm, 8 hours, 247-day calendar
PAY RATE: $15.00 - $16.32, depending on experience

Required to pass a POET (post offer employment test - Physical assessment) - fit for duty screening.
Must be 16 years of age or older.
Position SummaryThe job of Custodian - Night position was established for the purpose of providing custodial services at assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and preparing facilities for scheduled activities and events.
This job reports to Lead Custodian.
Primary Duties / Responsibilities- Arranges furniture and equipment (e.g. athletic events, plays, concerts, graduations, meetings) for special events.
- Attends unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, etc. to gather required information.
- Cleans assigned facilities and/or grounds (classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Delivers a variety of items (supplies, mail, packages, furniture) to distribute materials within the site.
- Informs students and site personnel about activities, safety issues, and proper maintenance of facilities and equipment.
- Monitors students, staff, and visitors in and around assigned building(s) to respond to emergency situations and inform appropriate parties.
- Monitors and adjusts site heating and cooling systems to provide a comfortable environment while conserving energy and complying with district objectives.
- Performs summer maintenance (strip/wax floors, move furniture, painting) for construction completion or facilitation.
- Performs landscaping activities (mowing grass, trimming, cutting weeds, watering) to maintain school grounds.
- Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures (change vacuum belts, bags; repair desks and tables; replace light bulbs) to ensure proper functioning.
- Removes snow, ice, sand, debris to ensure access and safety.
- Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies (paper towels, soap) to ensure availability.
- Responds to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and visitors, taking appropriate action or directing to appropriate personnel.
- Responds to immediate safety or operational concerns (facility damage, vandalism, alarms) to take action or notify appropriate personnel.
- Secures facilities and grounds (doors, gates, alarms, lights) to minimize property damage, equipment loss, and liability.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit, advises others, and operates within a defined budget.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.).
