Custodian, Full-time Evenings

The job of Custodian - Night position was established for the purpose of providing custodial services at assigned site; ensuring an attractive, sanitary and safe environment for students, staff and visitors; performing a variety of special cleaning operations; and preparing facilities for scheduled activities and events. This job reports to Lead Custodian.

Primary duties/responsibilities include:

• Arranging furniture and equipment for special events
• Attending unit meetings and training for required information
• Cleaning facilities and grounds to maintain a sanitary, safe and attractive environment
• Delivering items to appropriate parties within the site
• Informing students and site personnel about activities, safety issues and maintenance
• Monitoring students, staff and visitors for emergency situations
• Adjusting site heating and cooling systems as needed
• Performing summer maintenance and landscaping activities
• Performing minor maintenance on custodial equipment and furniture
• Removing snow, ice, sand, debris, etc. to ensure access and safety
• Replenishing classroom and restroom supplies
• Responding to inquiries and safety concerns
• Securing facilities and grounds to minimize property damage and liability
• Performing other related duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Understanding of verbal and written communication
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects
• High degree of motivation, responsibility and confidentiality
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Highly collaborative team player
• Ability to self-initiate areas of opportunity and make recommendations
