Job Description
The salary range for this position is $21.10 hourly.
Thurston County Public Works is seeking a reliable and customer-focused temporary Scalehouse Operator to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative Solid Waste team. In this temporary position, you will assist customers and collect fees at our Thurston County Solid Waste facilities located in Lacey, Rainier, and Rochester.
This temporary position may work part-time up to 40 hours per week, including weekends, and is anticipated to last six (6) months from the hire date.
Essential Functions- Measures loads of refuse for cubic yardage to determine cost; determines categories for loads.
- Collects fees explaining the rate structure, issues receipts.
- Answers phone calls from public for information on dumping.
- Logs daily and weekly receipt sheet; deposits cash receipts weekly.
- Performs custodial maintenance of facilities daily.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Work Environment – The work is performed at a transfer station and will be done outside, inside, and in a small kiosk. Exposure to a variety of weather conditions is present.
- Schedule – Hours will vary based on operational needs and may range from part-time to full-time, including weekends and holidays.
- Travel Requirements – Travel to other Solid Waste sites will be required.
- Customer Interactions – Daily interactions in-person with the public and Thurston County staff.
This position is considered to be an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs.
