Title: Custodian II (Elementary Day Custodian & DSAC) (Group
4)

Reports To: District Custodial Manager

Responsible for maintaining custodial standards and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the school environment. Tasks include routine cleaning, security, and safe operation of the district facilities while managing supplies and budgetary guidelines. Duties require moderate physical strength and routine manual labor.

1. General Duties (60%)

• Picks up and empties trash.
• Makes sure the first fifty feet, inside and outside, present a clean appearance for the public, students, and staff.
• Southern removal and maintenance of outside grounds.
• Provides services for the lunch program.
• Changes plastic bags, cleans restrooms, classrooms, chalkboards, whiteboards, erasers, pencil sharpeners, walls, ceilings, light fixtures, glass, blinds, and draperies.
• Ensures monthly preventive maintenance schedules, safety inspections, and supply orders are completed accurately and on time.
• Keeps restrooms supplied with paper products, soap, and other items.
• Inputs Maximo work orders.

2. Housekeeping Floor Care (25%)

• Performs dust mopping, wet mopping, vacuuming, sweeping, scrubbing, stripping, neutralizing, waxing, spot cleaning, stain and gum removal, and shampooing of floors.

3. Additional Duties (15%)

• Removes and replaces defective lights.
• Cleans mechanical grills.
• Dusts horizontal and vertical surfaces.
• Keeps ceiling tiles in place.
• Provides services for special activities.
• Identifies and reports items requiring repair actions.
• Works closely with office staff and fellow workers to provide feedback on building maintenance actions.

Education Level

• High School diploma or equivalent.

Other Requirements

• Basic cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to organize.
• Computer proficiency and effective communication skills.
• Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
• Ability to operate mechanical cleaning equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain acceptable working relations with supervisors, staff, students, general public, and fellow workers.
• Work overtime as required.
• Presents a neat and clean appearance.
• Ability to complete required training.
• Ability to work from ladder and scaffolding.

Preferred Skills

• Able to perform assigned duties with minimum supervision.
• Demonstrates knowledge of proper use of products and equipment.

• Standing, walking, and sitting regularly.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and carry up to 50 feet.
• Ability to push/pull up to 70 lbs of force.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as needed.
• Reaching/handling, speaking/hearing, and seeing required.
• Work classification may include occasional, frequent, or constant physical activity.

• Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
