Job DescriptionGENERAL SUMMARY, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Under general supervision, Maintenance personnel will maintain buildings, grounds, athletic fields, and equipment throughout the District at all times so they present no problems or interruptions to daily operations; maintain a preventative maintenance program and resolve immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Prior work experience with building maintenance is preferred but not required
- Clear state criminal record check and child abuse check
- Completion of Work Fit physical
- Be a minimum of 18 years old
License/
Certifications:
- Valid Nebraska driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to acquire a Nebraska pesticide license within 6 months of hire date
Hours/Benefits: Work hours are generally 7:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday
- Friday. This position also includes occasional Saturday hours and snow removal before and/or after school as needed. The pay is $28.55/hour and will increase to $29.70 in September. Position is year-round (260 day), eligible for health benefits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, WITH FREQUENCIES:
- (F) General physical handling and transporting of equipment, building fixtures, and/or supplies within a building or between buildings; may include but not limited to concert equipment, bleachers, risers, racks of chairs, tables, desks, furniture, filing cabinets, bookshelves, lawn and landscaping equipment, snow removal equipment, large and small hand tools and power tools, copy paper and other building supplies, ice melt bags, custodial supplies.
- (F) To provide building safety and ensure building standards are met, performs building maintenance such as electrical installations and repairs, plumbing installations and repairs, installation or repair of furniture and fixtures, flooring repairs, roof repairs, indoor and outdoor building painting.
- (F) To ensure year round school safety, performs grounds maintenance, mowing, landscaping, planting, mulching, irrigation maintenance, athletic fields maintenance, use of outdoor and indoor pesticides, snow and ice removal from parking lots, parking lot maintenance to include painting proper lane markings for dropping off and picking up students, outdoor concrete and asphalt repair.
- (C) Ability to operate many types of motor vehicles/equipment in order to adequately maintain grounds and buildings in multiple locations, vehicles may include trucks, suburban and other vehicles of varying size, may/may not have attachments such as flatbed trailers, snow blades, sand/salt spreader; other equipment may include forklifts, skid loaders, tractors, front loaders, riding mowers, snow blowers, small-motor hand-held equipment.
- (C) Regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job in order to maintain District facilities that ultimately support student’s regular routines and foster student learning; the ability to perform the identified tasks and possess the identified knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the identified work activities; the ability to perform the identified physical requirements.
- (D) Duties may vary by season, by building, and building activity usage; however, examples of typical performance responsibilities are listed below (not intended to be all-inclusive). There may be specified other duties assigned to Maintenance by the District Maintenance Supervisor/Building Principal as part of fulfilling maintenance job goals which assist students, school staff and the visiting general public.
Examples of Performance Responsibilities:
- Installs plumbing fixtures, such as toilets, faucets, sinks, etc.
- Makes plumbing repairs to toilets, faucets, sinks, drinking fountains, etc.
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines best course of action to repair
- Installs or repairs wiring, light switches, light bulbs, and other electrical or electronic components
