Salary Range: $21.00 To $21.00 Hourly
Position SummaryThe Facilities Maintenance employee will ensure that NHS facilities are kept in safe and acceptable condition in regard to function, appearance, and environmental compliance.
Schedule: Sunday through Thursday from 9:00am - 5:30pm.
Essential Job Functions- Perform general building and grounds maintenance duties.
- Complete facilities projects as assigned by the Facilities Manager.
- Receive and sort donations as directed.
- Special event set up as needed.
- Complete preventative maintenance checklist, as scheduled.
- Assist with the pet food pantry, as needed.
- Use and maintain the work order program.
- Make appropriate adjustments to the HVAC controls.
- Assist with the cleaning of any contamination cases that occur in the facilities.
- Receive deliveries.
- Demonstrate a commitment to NHS core values.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED, required.
- Previous maintenance experience, required.
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Ability to drive a pickup with a hitched trailer.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment.
- Comfortable and skilled working with a culturally diverse staff and community.
- Self‑starter.
- Affection for animals and willingness to accommodate them in the workplace.
- Maturity, good judgment, professional manner, and personal appearance.

- Minimum 40 hours per week. Weekend hours may be required.

- Noise level usually quiet; animals may produce barking or whining at times.
- High exposure to animals and unpredictable reactions.
- Temperature varies with seasons.
- Must work in various weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to zoonotic diseases and hazardous chemicals.
- Must work around animals without severe allergic reactions.
- External environmental issues may arise; report immediately to supervisor.
Physical demands include walking, bending, standing, sitting, driving, lifting up to 50 lbs., lifting over 50 lbs. with assistance, stretching and reaching, distinguishing smell/temperature, hearing/seeing, exposure to hazardous materials, climbing, hand/finger dexterity, and stooping.
