Position Purpose
This role accelerates business value by ensuring reliable operation and maintenance of the plant’s manufacturing systems and physical property. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, tool identification and usage, and minor property repairs. Additional tasks may involve operating equipment to improve processing times and reduce downtimes. The candidate demonstrates Reddy Ice’s "True North" attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, direct communication, fact‑based decisions, servant leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset.
The role leads, collaborates, and applies lean principles and tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to facilitate ongoing process improvements and value creation for customers, employees, and shareholders.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on production equipment; troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment.
- Operate processing machinery and reduce equipment downtime.
- Apply advanced knowledge of blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation for maintenance of manufacturing and facility equipment.
- Provide basic knowledge of water plant operations and maintenance, including ice makers, compressors, heat exchangers, ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems, pumps, condensers, and compressors.
- Ensure manufacturing equipment is functional and supplies are ready.
- Order and control inventory of repair parts and maintain ready service equipment for plant safety and optimal function.
- Test production quality by visually inspecting ice for clarity, cube size, and hole space.
- Apply advanced root‑cause analysis and implement countermeasures.
- Perform minor facility and building grounds maintenance, such as changing light bulbs, painting, and small structural repairs.
- Instruct and coach others in tool and equipment usage for facility maintenance.
- Assist with bagging product and occasionally direct production workflow based on equipment output.
- Facilitate basic data analysis for root‑cause identification.
- Conduct basic electrical and electronic maintenance without supervision.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities and bring them to the Operations Manager’s attention.
- Complete safety checklists as required by the Safety/Risk Management Department.
- Monitor and correct industrial health and safety issues.
- Apply advanced electrical and chemical safety measures and controls.
- Perform other duties as directed by management.
- Adhere to the Code of Business Ethics and maintain high safety standards.
- Read and interpret documents in English, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

This position may assist with directing production workflow but is an individual contributor with no direct reports. The employee must maintain a professional demeanor when dealing with vendors, suppliers, and contractors and demonstrate commitment to Reddy Ice’s values and priorities.
Education and ExperienceRequired: 6–8 years of work experience in industrial maintenance operations;
Maintenance certification from one of the following:
Journeyman Certification/License in Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Disciplines (State Certifying Authority), Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator, Certified Maintenance Technician Level III, or Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician.
