The Commercial Janitorial Day Porter is responsible for providing daytime cleaning and maintenance services in high-traffic areas of commercial facilities. The Day Porter ensures a clean, sanitary, and presentable environment throughout the day by performing routine and on-demand cleaning tasks, stocking supplies, and responding promptly to service requests.
Key ResponsibilitiesMaintain cleanliness of lobbies, breakrooms, restrooms, and common areas
Perform routine cleaning tasks such as wiping down surfaces, restocking supplies, and removing trash
Monitor and clean high-touch surfaces regularly for sanitation
Respond to spills and emergency cleaning situations promptly
Replenish restroom and kitchen supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
Restock janitorial carts and storage areas
Assist with meeting room cleanings
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or supply shortages to the supervisor
Interact professionally and courteously with building occupants and staff
Follow all safety and health protocols, including proper PPE usage
Document cleaning activities and supply usage as needed
Position RequirementsEducation & Experience:
Previous janitorial or customer service experience (preferred)

Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
Basic knowledge of cleaning supplies and sanitation procedures
Dependable and professional appearance and behavior
Able to follow safety procedures and company policies
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Perform repetitive motions and tasks in various environments
- Indoor commercial facilities such as office buildings, retail centers, or medical clinics
- Daytime hours may include customer or tenant interaction
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, waste materials, and general building conditions
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) required as needed
