Maintenance Worker - Omni Center; Seasonal​/Limited Term

Overview

The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker. This is a Limited Term Employment position. Scheduled hours vary for each event and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. An employee in this position is responsible for a variety of tasks related to building maintenance and event functions. Work is performed according to established guidelines and reviewed by the Buildings Supervisor.

• Complete the set-up and takedown of equipment for events and return the building to its original condition before and after each event.
• Enforce the rules of the Omni Center to ensure safety of the general public on the premises.
• Identify problems with the building, its contents, equipment, or supplies and report changes to the supervisor or maintenance lead by written or verbal communication.
• Assist in the maintenance of the ice, including resurfacing, flooding, patching, edging, and any other duties deemed necessary.
• Assist in building maintenance to maintain a clean and safe environment, including bathroom cleaning and restocking, floor care, windows, custodial cleaning, and some outside maintenance.
• Perform opening procedures for the building during events and properly secure the building each night as needed.
• Ensure customer needs are met during events or seek advice from the immediate supervisor.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the building and surrounding grounds.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and establish effective working relationships with the public, associates, volunteers, and staff; calmly solve problems under stress; sustain harmony in the workplace; concentrate for extended periods and remain flexible.
• Contribute to a cooperative working effort by performing other job-related work as needed or requested; assist others and participate in special projects as scheduled or requested.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Wage range for this seasonal, limited-term position is $11.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on qualifications and budget. Flexible scheduling available. There are no benefits associated with limited-term positions.
