Maintenance Worker - Omni Center; Seasonal​/Limited Term

The City of Onalaska is seeking to hire a Maintenance Worker. This is a limited‑term employment position. Scheduled hours vary for each event and may include mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends. Employees in this position are responsible for a variety of building maintenance and event support tasks. Work is performed according to established guidelines and reviewed by the Buildings Supervisor.

• Set up and take down event equipment, returning the building to its original condition before and after each event.
• Enforce Omni Center rules regarding the general public, ensuring their safety on premises.
• Identify problems with the building, its contents, equipment, or supplies and report questionable changes to the supervisor or maintenance lead via written or verbal communication.
• Assist in ice maintenance, including resurfacing, flooding, patching and edging, along with any other duties deemed necessary.
• Assist in overall building maintenance, such as cleaning and restocking bathrooms, floor care, windows, custodial cleaning, and some outdoor maintenance.
• Perform opening procedures for the building during events and properly secure the building each night as needed.
• Ensure customer needs are met during events, seeking supervisor advice when necessary.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the building and surrounding grounds.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and build effective working relationships with the public, associates, volunteers, and staff; remain calm under stressful circumstances, concentrate for extended periods, and remain flexible.
• Contribute to a cooperative working effort by demonstrating willingness to perform other job‑related work as needed or requested and assist on special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Wage range for this seasonal limited‑term position is $11.00 to $14.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and budget. Flexible scheduling is available. There are no benefits associated with limited‑term positions.
