Tax and Accounting Supervisor

This position can be based in Columbus or Atlanta, GA or Durham, NC. Expectations are to be in the office daily with the possibility for hybrid flexibility.

• Prepares personal and corporate tax returns, including the most complex.
• Approves less complicated personal returns.
• Reviews, monitors and supervise due date deliverables.
• Acts as a resource for tax staff and senior tax accountants.
• Coaching staff, evaluating performance, providing on-the-job training, and counseling employees to strengthen knowledge/skills/development.
• Reviewing work product, counseling the staff member(s) assigned as to additional testing, editing, further documentation judged necessary, or how unnecessary work can be eliminated in the future.
• Participating in closing accounting and tax matters through rendering compliance when the necessity arrives.
• Becomes involved in tax planning for complex client situations.
• Acts as key client contact person for smaller engagements.
• Contributes to the client service team by producing quality work with quick turnaround and attentive service.
• Establishes good working relationships with all directors and staff members.
• Exhibits time management and organization skills.
• Assist with recruitment and training of tax department personnel.
• Maintains contacts with peers, develops network of business contacts, meets with prospective clients, and cultivates referrals.
• As part of our compliance program, all team members are required to follow industry leading data and system security practices.

• Bachelors or masters degree in accounting or other related program.
• 5+ years’ experience in tax return preparation.
• Proficiency in use of computers and tax software programs.
• CPA certification is preferred, but not required.

• Hybrid and remote (determined by position) work arrangements available.
