Admissions Coordinator
The University of Chicago Law School seeks an Admissions Coordinator. The position reports to the Director of Admissions and provides administrative support to the Law School's admissions processes. The Admissions Coordinator collaborates with other student services managers and administrators to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timely performance of admissions operations, facilitate and resolve student and office problems independently, develop and implement procedures and policies for new student initiatives, and improve efficiency and results within existing programs.
The Admissions Coordinator must develop and maintain an understanding of the Law School and its culture in order to positively represent the University and the Law School to all constituencies, including prospective students, applicants, current students, and other internal and external partners.
Responsibilities include providing in-person and virtual front-line, accurate prospective student information and assistance for admissions and graduate programs, managing the Admissions inbox and answering calls for the Admissions Office, uploading data into, sending emails from, and pulling reports in Admissions database system to support recruiting efforts and application process, processing JD, Transfer, and MLS online applications and supporting application processes, providing administrative and event support to the Doctoroff Program and Rubenstein Program, preparing materials for and helping execute applicant and student programs and visits, and processing student reimbursements, coordinating logistics for major student functions, identifying and negotiating contracts with vendors, ensuring high quality service standards are met, and processing vendor payments, assisting with tracking and processing team expenses, assisting with onboarding tasks for incoming students, maintaining and updating the Admissions web and electronic content, conducting special projects such as surveys, accreditation visits, the creation and management of specialized student activities or programs, and data collection initiatives, occasionally representing the Law School Admissions team at on- and off-campus recruiting events, using general understanding and experience to administer the delivery of services to program participants and/or beneficiaries, planning and conducting quality assurance reviews and recommending changes as appropriate, and performing other related work as needed.
Minimum qualifications include a college or university degree in a related field and knowledge and skills developed through less than 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline. Preferred qualifications include professional work experience in higher education and previous experience in student services. Preferred technical skills or knowledge include proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, experience with web content management systems, and an aptitude for learning and becoming an expert user of software programs and databases.
Preferred competencies include exceptional interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, strong initiative and resourcefulness in problem-solving and commitment to providing a high level of service with a positive attitude, ability to effectively communicate with faculty, graduate students, various administrative offices at all levels in the University, and external constituents, demonstrated flexibility and ability to multi-task while maintaining a calm and courteous demeanor, strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to follow directions, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and knowledge of the University of Chicago's policies and procedures.
This position is available for partially remote work based on the business needs of the Law School. Evening and weekend hours are required for admitted student events, orientation, and occasional other events.
