Regulatory Compliance Specialist
OFFICE/HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER
Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson, LLP, a leading Chicago-based intellectual property firm specializing in trademark, unfair competition and copyright prosecution and litigation, seeks a dynamic and collaborative individual to join us as our Office/Human Resources Manager.
While wearing your HR hat, your essential responsibilities would include:
- Semi-monthly payroll using ADP’s Workforce Now, including the preparation of journal and charge-back entries;
- 401(k) plan administration, including oversight of all plan maintenance, administration, audit and reporting (including preparation of year-end plan reconciliation analyses and general operational review); semi-monthly payroll contributions; individual partner contribution management; participant guidance (non-advisory); and overall participant support;
- Benefits administration (from benefit procurement (including financial impact analysis) through daily management and employee support);
- Attorney, paraprofessional and staff recruiting (including both lateral and student/summer associate recruitment);
- Daily staffing;
- Performance review and salary administration;
- Compliance and policy development;
- Annual preparation of year-end departmental payroll, tax and account reconciliation reports;
- Annual forecasting and production of payroll and 401(k) plan expense budgets; and
- All other HR-related projects and tasks.
While wearing your Operations hat, your essential responsibilities would include:
- General on-premises management;
- Annual corporate/LLP renewals;
- Assistance with routine and by-request firm financial management analyses;
- Insurance renewals (professional liability; employment practices management; cyber);
- Charitable giving and sponsorship management;
- Ad hoc governmental and client reporting requests;
- Attorney licensing management (both CLE and annual bar registrations); and
- All other operational-related projects and tasks.

Candidates must have 3-6 years of HR/operational management experience in law or professional services, with demonstrated success in interacting confidently and effectively with individuals at all levels of an organization. Bachelor s degree and/or professional credentialing is preferred. This position can accommodate a hybrid office/work-from-home arrangement; however, we would expect that your in-office presence would meet or exceed three days/week.
