Position SummaryThe Key Account Manager serves as the primary business contact with key client decision makers and owns client satisfaction. The Account Manager will build relationships to ensure services run smoothly, maintain the integrity of critical customer data for accurate billing, and facilitate vendor payment.
Key Responsibilities- Own the entire account/book of business, ensuring onsite waste operations run smoothly and overseeing weekly invoicing.
- Manage service escalations, communicating with site contacts and corporate stakeholders.
- Project manage multiple projects concurrently (add/remove waste containers, order equipment, handle one‑off recycling needs).
- Generate, analyze, and present performance reporting at client locations or virtually.
- Create and execute annual account plans, presenting to corporate stakeholders.
- Prepare 2-3 annual business presentations on key account metrics and progress toward client goals.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and implement value‑added solutions that increase diversion.
- Resolve billing discrepancies quickly with internal departments to avoid service interruptions.
- Maintain understanding of company capabilities and, with the Channel Director, communicate all offerings to clients.
- Travel 25‑30% of the year; onsite work as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
This position includes supervisory responsibilities.
Experience & Qualifications- High school diploma required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of successful account management in the waste and recycling industry, or 9+ years of equivalent experience.
- Strong commercial knowledge (P&L, profit improvement, share of wallet growth).
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Excellent presentation, communication, and facilitation skills.
- Strong organizational and project‑management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills for engaging stakeholders at all levels.
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Proactive, can‑do attitude, ownership of tasks, and drive to completion.
- Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Discretion and trustworthiness with sensitive information.
- Will travel and work onsite as needed.
Working from a home office setting, the employee regularly uses a computer for extended periods, requires fine motor skills, and must sit for extended periods. Occasionally lifting up to 25 lb. Occasional travel to team meetings may be required. Reliable high‑bandwidth internet and a quiet workspace are required; a company laptop will be provided.
