Flowtec Construction is partnered with a well-established, vertically integrated real estate developer based in downtown Chicago. The company develops and operates multifamily, mixed-use and commercial projects across several national markets.
This opportunity is specifically suited to a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager from a general contractor who wants to transition to the ownership and development side.

Its portfolio includes ground-up multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, adaptive reuse and renovation projects located across the United States. The team operates in a collaborative, low-ego environment where construction professionals work directly alongside experienced development leaders. The position is based in downtown Chicago and offers hybrid flexibility.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Represent ownership throughout the development and construction lifecycle
- Support the delivery of large ground-up multifamily, mixed-use and commercial developments
- Manage relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers and third-party consultants
- Review drawings for constructability, code compliance, budgeting and operational considerations
- Coordinate design development, permitting, utilities, municipal approvals and entitlements
- Assist with bid packages, contractor selection, bid analysis and GMP negotiations
- Monitor project budgets, schedules, procurement and overall risk
- Review change orders, payment applications, owner draws and cost reporting
- Conduct site visits and hold contractors accountable for quality, schedule and contractual requirements
- Provide project updates to internal leadership, lenders and investment partners
- Coordinate project closeout and turnover to the property management team
- Travel periodically to developments across the company’s national portfolio
- Become increasingly involved in the financial and strategic sides of real estate development
You are likely working as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager for a general contractor and have built a strong foundation in construction delivery. You understand how projects are built, but you now want greater involvement in the decisions that shape them.
The ideal background includes:- Approximately 5 to 10 years of experience with a general contractor, construction manager or real estate developer
- Experience managing ground-up multifamily, mixed-use or commercial construction
- Strong understanding of drawings, contracts, budgets, schedules, change orders and owner draws
- Experience coordinating architects, engineers, subcontractors and other project stakeholders
- A bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Real Estate Development or a related field
- Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills
- The ability to travel to project sites when required
- A genuine interest in building a long-term career in real estate development. Multifamily experience is preferred, but strong candidates from other ground-up commercial sectors will also be considered.
