Technical Product Designer / Product Developer (Freelance)
Location: Hybrid – Diversey Avenue, Chicago, IL 60647

Overview
Our client is seeking a freelance Technical Product Designer / Product Developer to support ongoing development of both men’s and women’s apparel. This hybrid role will work partially onsite at our Chicago location and partially remote, providing consistent support across design translation, technical development, and production handoff on an ongoing basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with internal stakeholders to interpret design direction for both men’s and women’s apparel into accurate, production-ready technical packages.
- Create and maintain detailed technical specifications and documentation to support sample development and production.
- Support the development process from initial concept through fit approvals and final production handoff.
- Collaborate in person during onsite working days in Chicago for fittings, reviews, and key milestone meetings, while managing focused development tasks remotely.
- Help ensure consistency in quality, fit, and construction standards across both men’s and women’s product lines.
- Track and update all relevant documentation and details as products move through the development lifecycle.
Role Structure
- Schedule: Ongoing freelance engagement, approximately 24–40 hours per week depending on workload and seasonal needs.
- Work Arrangement: Hybrid – regular onsite presence at our Chicago office for collaborative work and fittings, with flexibility for remote work on individual development tasks.
Qualifications
- Experience working on both men’s and women’s apparel in a technical or product development capacity.
- Ability to work independently in a freelance capacity while partnering closely with internal teams during onsite days.
- Comfortable in a hybrid work model with consistent, ongoing weekly hours.
- Based in, or able to reliably commute to, Chicago, IL for onsite work.
