Position: Higher Education Consultant: Title IV & Financial Aid (Subcontractor)

Who We Are

Edu Cred Services is a small, mighty team of higher education consultants specializing in accreditation, state licensure, and operational consulting. We help institutions understand what's being asked of them, tell their stories effectively, and turn a tangle of ideas and documentation into polished, standards-aligned final products. Our clients trust us because we're thorough, honest, and deeply invested in the missions they're pursuing.

We're also a team that genuinely likes working together and it shows. We value professionalism, candor, competence, kindness, and authenticity in equal measure. We take our work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously. We over-communicate on purpose, we hold each other accountable, and yes, we have an unofficial llama mascot. If that combination of detail-oriented work and personality sounds like your kind of team, keep reading.

About

This Role

We're looking for a Higher Education Consultant with Title IV and financial aid expertise to join our team as a subcontractor. This is a fully remote position at approximately 20 hours per week, preferably during standard business hours, because we're collaborative and communicative. Ensuring overlapping availability with the team matters.

Please Note:

This is a 1099 subcontractor role. There are no employee benefits, but your schedule is flexible and the work is meaningful. Hours may fluctuate based on client needs, with potential to grow over time.

Here’s what the work actually looks like:

  • Understanding institutions’ needs to administer federal financial funding programs and related regulatory requirements
  • Advising institutions on the best approaches to implementing, maintaining, and enhancing the administration of their federal financial funding programs
  • Collaborating with clients to understand how their financial aid operations can be strengthened to support their missions and serve students effectively
  • Reviewing institutional documents, evaluating them against federal regulations and accreditation standards, ensuring thoughtful compliance
  • Communicating clearly and proactively with clients: knowing when to just listen, when to ask questions, when to follow up, and when to identify potential risks
  • Engaging with the Edu Cred Services team to maintain our standard of quality and responsiveness

This role will become increasingly client-facing over time, after a period of onboarding and continued support. We provide the training needed to build confidence and context before taking the lead.

Who We Need

Required:

  • A master's degree or higher, preferably in education, law, or a related field
  • Title IV experience or demonstrated expertise in higher education financial aid administration
  • Strong time management and personal project management skills. Ability to juggle multiple clients and deadlines without tasks slipping through the cracks.
  • A meticulous eye for detail (this work demands it). If detail work makes your eyes glaze over, this role will make you miserable, and we say that with love.
  • Self-starter energy with genuine team-player instincts. You can drive your own work forward while staying connected and collaborative.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including the instinct to ask good questions and the judgment to know when to elevate
Strongly Preferred
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and/or accreditation in higher education
  • Familiarity with state licensure requirements for postsecondary institutions

Title IV knowledge matters here, but we care just as much about how you think and how you work. If you've got financial aid experience and you're curious, sharp, and genuinely a delight to work with, don't let an imperfect match on the rest of the list stop you from reaching out.
