The Southwest Organizing Project is seeking a mission-driven leader who will build on the successful launch of the Chicago Community Learning Partnership and support the 3-Year Growth Plan. The new Chicago CLP Organizer will lead the dynamic growth of the new college-credit pathway and expand the credentialed workforce of skilled organizers throughout Chicago. This is a full-time hybrid position with adjustable hours for evenings/weekends to meet programmatic and student needs.
Responsibilities:- Student engagement: support the success of CLP cohort students enrolled in the Community Leadership Pathway at the City Colleges of Chicago; student support entails recruitment of prospective students, enrollment into the college-credit coursework, retention through the pathway, and successful practicum/workforce placement. This work will require relational meetings with students and stakeholders, particularly 1-1s with students.
- Student recruitment: meeting with prospective students and raising awareness of the CLP pathways.
- Cohort communications: provide support for the day-to-day communications and logistical support for students enrolled in the Community Leadership Pathway.
- Alumni engagement: engage CLP alumni to recommend new students, serve as mentors and support practicum placement opportunities, and support CLP community network.
- Collaboration with City Colleges of Chicago:
Through an organizing lens, manage the day-to-day operations of the CLP pathway at college sites. This work will involve collaborating with CCC staff and faculty to ensure a high-quality student experience for the college credential pathway. - Relationships with community-based partners:
Manage the network of CLP community-based organizations, particularly CLP Advisory and CLP Practicum partners, to ensure CLP is a pathway valued by nonprofit leaders as a vital response to the current labor market in Chicago, particularly filling the gap for trained community organizers and community engagement specialists. - Duties as assigned for Chicago CLP Growth Plan, reporting to the CLP Director.

Required Experience:- Experience in or exposure to nonprofit and social impact sector in Chicago
- Experience with navigating complex systems and/or helping others to do so
- Familiarity with Chicago CLP network, particularly as a former student or community-based partner
- Bilingual – Spanish/English – and bicultural work experience
- Community organizing and/or coalition building experience
- Experience successfully navigating higher education/school systems and building organizational culture in a hybrid setting
- Associate/bachelor’s degree, experience in two-year and four-year institutions
