Lecturer of French
Position:
Full‑time, exempt Lecturer of French in the Department of Modern Languages at Loyola University Chicago. The appointment is a nine‑month academic position.
Salary: $60,000‑$70,000, in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
. 10% remote work is allowed.

- Teach all levels of French and Francophone language, literatures, and cultures—from beginning through advanced proficiency.
- Deliver courses in literature in translation and French and Francophone literatures.
- Develop and coordinate language instruction across multiple sections with other faculty.
- Advise students on course selection and progress in the French program.
- Prepare, grade, and evaluate assignments and examinations.
- Collaborate with the French section head and department chair to develop curriculum for all instructional levels.
- Lead collaborative initiatives to align instructional practices with institutional academic standards.
- PhD in French and Francophone Studies or a related field, or ABD (all but dissertation) in the same discipline.
- At least 3 years of experience teaching French language courses at the tertiary level.
- Experience teaching foundational to advanced language courses and conducting classroom instruction on French and Francophone texts and cultural materials.
- Experience designing comprehensive course syllabi and instructional frameworks, including grammar pedagogy, composition, and critical textual analysis.
- Experience developing rigorous assessment tools such as examinations and analytical projects.
- Ability to coordinate and synchronize pedagogical content with faculty members across multi‑section offerings.
- Knowledge of interdisciplinary methodologies examining the intersection of the Francophone world with global religious, political, and socio‑cultural frameworks.
