The mission of Resilience is to end rape culture and empower sexual assault survivors through advocacy, education, and healing. Throughout Chicago, we provide nonjudgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, medical and legal advocacy, and public education and institutional advocacy to improve the treatment of survivors and to effect positive change in policies and public attitudes toward sexual assault.
Established in 1974, Resilience serves over 2,000 survivors of sexual violence and their loved ones annually.
Role Description
The Prevention Services Supervisor reports to the Director of Education & Training (DET) and is responsible for the daily stewardship of youth prevention education services and the supervision and onboarding of 3 - 5 interns annually. Duties include creating and delivering classroom-based sexual violence prevention curriculum; advancing sexual violence public awareness; conducting professional training for school-based staff and youth workers; developing and supporting safety initiatives in schools and on college campuses;
and planning and mobilizing community and social justice activism campaigns. The Prevention Services Supervisor assists the Director of Education and Training with coordinating the Our Music, My Body (OMMB) campaign, a unique seasonal prevention initiative that increases awareness about sexual harassment and promotes the practice of consent in music and festival spaces.
- Using an evidence-based approach assist with the development and implementation of K-12 school-facing curriculum, including but not limited to, single and multisession curriculum. Lead the in-school stewardship of youth curriculum and programming, through onsite supervision of education and training interns
- Supervise prevention educator interns by conducting weekly supervision and providing ongoing instructional coaching
- Work to bolster school partnerships through direct outreach in partnership with the Director of Education & Training
- Assist the Director of Education & Training in scheduling school programming, integrating the use of program interns into classroom coverage
- Support the creation and ongoing development of various assigned trainings within the Resilience Training Institute (RTI)
- Present various trainings across the RTI portfolio as assigned
- Support training and outreach efforts by cultivating relationships and potential training referrals
- Coordinate OMMB related training and onsite activations including the scheduling of staff, interns or volunteers at OMMB events
- Work with the advancement team on the development of campaign marketing and outreach materials
- Assist the Director of Education & Training in maintenance of industry partner relationships
- Ensure that the Advocacy Volunteer Supervisor has both necessary content and schedule of OMMB events for weekly volunteer email
- Manage communication and activities for volunteers who opt into OMMB
- Develop and present OMMB Volunteer Training portions of 60-hour training and make-up or one-off sessions held as needed
- Track and enter volunteer attendance, hours, and activities in My Impact database and Empower DB database
- Partner with the Director of Education & Training in the onboarding of new staff educators and interns
- Maintain current knowledge of trauma-informed and healing-centered education strategies within a public health framework across the adolescent development cycle for the primary prevention of sexual violence
