Do people tell you that you sing like a Disney princess or prince? (And it’s true?)
Do you wish you could find a part-time job that actually uses your musical skills, talents, and training?
Would you love consistent daytime work that leaves your evenings and weekends free for auditions, rehearsals, performances, family, or other creative pursuits?
Mini Musicians may be exactly what you’re looking for.
We’re seeking a talented, energetic singer/performer to lead our joyful parent-child music classes for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers at our Brookfield studio.
This is an especially great fit for musical theatre performers, singers, actors, and teaching artists. You’ll use your singing, performance skills, ability to connect with an audience, sense of play, and musical ear every time you’re at work…except your audience may be 18 months old and holding an egg shaker!
And yes, it is as fun as it sounds.
No previous early childhood teaching experience is required. Musicality, personality, dependability, and the ability to connect naturally with young children and their grown-ups matter much more to us. We provide the curriculum, materials, and extensive paid training you’ll need to become a confident Mini Musicians teacher.
Once trained,
there is no lesson planning or work to take home. You arrive, teach, and leave your work at work.
We are currently hiring for a consistent block of four consecutive classes on Friday mornings, approximately 8:40–11:45 a.m., at our Brookfield studio
. Additional weekday-morning teaching opportunities are also available throughout the Chicagoland area.
Starting pay: $40/hour.
What You’ll Do:- Lead engaging, high-energy music and movement classes for children ages 4 months–5 years.
- Sing a cappella throughout class using our established curriculum of songs, chants, movement activities, instruments, imaginative play, and more.
- Create a warm, playful environment that engages both children and their grown-ups.
- Learn and accurately retain a substantial repertoire of songs, chants, melodies, lyrics, and accompanying movements.
- Use your performance skills to bring songs and activities to life while responding naturally to the children in the room.
- A pleasant,
accurate and tuneful singing voice and a strong musical ear. Because our classes are voice-led and primarily a cappella, vocal accuracy is essential. - Vocal, musical theatre, music, acting, or other relevant performance experience or training.
Vocal training is strongly preferred
. - A playful, expressive, warm, and engaging presence.
- Genuine enjoyment of babies, toddlers, and young children.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to connect comfortably with adults as well as children.
- The ability to learn music quickly and retain it accurately.
- Exceptional reliability and professionalism.
- Reliable transportation to Brookfield, IL.
- Friday morning availability.
If you’re a strong singer and performer who has never taught before,
please don’t let that stop you from applying. We can teach you how to teach Mini Musicians. What we can’t teach nearly as easily is musical instinct, a great ear, natural charisma, playfulness, and the ability to light up a room.
While our immediate opening is for Friday mornings at our Brookfield studio, Mini Musicians is also expanding our team of trained teaching artists for early childhood programs throughout the Chicagoland area. These positions are ideal for performers looking to add flexible weekday-morning teaching opportunities to their schedules.
If you’re excited about Mini Musicians but the Friday position isn’t the right fit, we’d still love to hear from exceptional singers and performers interested in joining our teaching team.
