Position Overview:
Principal Consultant
The Principal Consultant will lead multidisciplinary teams in delivering high-quality consulting and design services to clients across various sectors. This role requires active engagement in multiple concurrent projects, ensuring excellence in execution, technical accuracy, and client satisfaction. In addition to project leadership, the Principal Consultant will spearhead business development initiatives within their region, contributing to the strategic growth of the practice.
This is a remote (Work From Home) position, and we welcome candidates located in major metropolitan markets across the U.S.
Responsibilities
• Serve as the executive-level liaison between NV5 and key stakeholders, including the Owner, Architect, and other design team members.
• Lead multidisciplinary project teams, offering strategic insight and innovative thinking in the development of technology solutions.
• Drive business development efforts within a designated geographic region or market sector, identifying and pursuing new opportunities.
• Develop and negotiate proposals, scopes of work, and fee agreements with clients.
• Author strategic technology plans, programming documents, and other project-related communications.
• Facilitate programmatic discussions with clients to establish project goals, functional requirements, and performance expectations.
• Collaborate with internal NV5 teams to guide clients through technology selection, ensuring solutions are cost-effective and user‑centric.
• Oversee the integration of audiovisual systems into architectural designs, coordinating with Architects, Engineers, and other consultants.
• Manage project deliverables including drawings, specifications, coordination meetings, submittal reviews, and site inspections.
• Ensure all work is delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with NV5's standards for quality and excellence.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in technology consulting
• Existing relationships in the regional architectural community, or the ability to develop these relationships leading to an increased market presence in the area
• Deep expertise in audiovisual system design and implementation, including projection and display technologies, sound reinforcement, conferencing systems, signal processing/distribution, and control systems.
• Solid understanding of architectural requirements for audiovisual systems, including sightlines, structural supports, cabling pathways, and equipment integration.
• General knowledge of IT infrastructure, digital media delivery, and network architecture.
• Proven experience in business development within professional services.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and a collaborative, positive approach to work.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Blue Beam.
• Preferred
Certifications:
CTS, CTS‑D, CTS‑I, RCDD, or other relevant industry credentials.
All candidates must be driven to satisfy the needs of end users and have the ability to deliver high caliber end results in a timely manner while operating without direct supervision. Some overnight travel may be required. Navigating building construction sites is required for most project assignments.
