BMS​/Smart Building Engineer III

We are seeking a performance-driven, highly motivated BMS/Smart Building Engineer / Consultant II-IV for our Richmond or Chicago office and New York, NY office.

The role will collaborate with the national ICT/BMS team to grow Syska services by pursuing new business opportunities and leveraging the firm’s holistic smart technology-centric competitive edge.

• As a mid-level BMS Engineer, build controls designs and support project execution on assigned projects under the supervision of a BMS design lead.
• Prepare controls design drawings and integrated systems specifications for markets including Aviation, Critical Facilities, Financial, Healthcare, Pharmaceutical, Light Industry, and other active markets.
• Possibly travel to sites across the US and interface with internal clients at other Syska offices and client personnel at state-of-the-art facilities.
• Prepare BMS drawings, sequencing of operations, specifications, and perform system design calculations.
• Assist in selecting equipment for building systems and write reports.
• Provide project execution support including reviewing submittals and RFIs.
• Attend project meetings while interfacing with clients and contractors.
• Interface with internal PICs, PMs, site leaders, and practice area leaders.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing project design teams.

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (preferred).
• 18 months to 7+ years of experience in HVAC controls as a consultant, contractor, or HVAC engineer.
• Knowledge of HVAC/electrical instrumentation design and building control sequence of operations.
• Knowledge of building IT infrastructure.
• Effective team player with the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
• Excellent organization skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills; recent industry publications (presentations, webinars, trade publications) are a plus.
• Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is a plus but not required.
• Active involvement with ASHRAE, CABA, and other organizations is a plus.

The salary range listed below is for this job posting and may vary based on location and candidate experience.

New York Pay Range: $90,851 - $136,277 USD

Chicago Pay Range: $90,851 - $136,277 USD
