Structural Engineer, Engineering Design & Technologists
This position is related to the industrial sector. Experience in this area is required.
Position ResponsibilitiesPerform mechanical design tasks for industrial facilities. Assignments will be varied and can include such items as specification preparation, design and analysis calculations, detail definition, evaluation of existing facilities, construction monitoring, or on-site data gathering. This position is expected to be at a level where the individual will be able to independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures, using judgement when making minor adaptations and modifications.
Assistance would be given for unusual problems. While this is an office-based position, some travel may be required. Some of the responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Review and perform engineering calculations, prepare specifications and technical reports, develop design details and communicate same to others. Individual is expected to be fully-versed in aspects of structural engineering for the industrial sector: including the analysis and design of steel and concrete structures and foundation systems
- Applicable experience sectors may include:
Power, Manufacturing, Petrochemical, Pulp & Paper, and/or Mining - Assist business development efforts by applying technical knowledge to identify and understand client needs and define scope of work requirements to support proposals.
- Coordinate effectively with other departments for multi-discipline projects
- Maintain and expand client relationships
- Minimum B.S. degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited University or equal
- Minimum of 10 years of practical experience with piping design as well as equipment sizing/evaluations (pumps, compressors, mixers, etc.) is required, hydraulic design and capacity assessment considered a plus
- Thorough knowledge and familiarity in using relevant codes and standards
- Master's Degree
- Registration as a licensed Professional Engineer
- Experience with hydraulic design and capacity assessment
- Experience with construction observation
- Auto Cad or Revit experience
- Proficiency in any one of the industry standard piping analysis programs such as Nozzle Pro, CAESAR II, AFT Software, ASPEN or similar
- Very strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Individual must have a work history which represents increasing responsibility, inclusive of leadership without authority
- $120k - $140k per year, depending on all candidate factors; such as qualifications, experience level, etc.
