APTIM is seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Project Manager to join our team of engineers, scientists, and technicians who are committed to safely solving our clients’ environmental concerns. The qualified candidate will be a hands‑on Project Manager in a fast‑paced, multi‑facetted program dedicated to problem solving and completing projects with precision and accuracy. They will participate in scope of work development, project planning, project oversight, conference calls with clients and other environmental consultants for Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments.

The project manager will also evaluate long‑term liability, including cost and options to reduce remediation expenditures; manage dewatering permitting and oversight; and profitably and safely manage environmental assessment, compliance, and remediation projects from proposal through execution to invoicing while mentoring less experienced staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing projects in Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, Texas, Kentucky and Alabama
  • Managing client projects from proposal through execution and invoicing
  • Managing budgets of $500K and above
  • Interacting and cooperating with clients, vendors and contractors
  • Developing and executing work scopes while maintaining schedules and budgetary goals
  • Adjusting work priorities in response to changing site conditions and project schedules
  • Monitoring budgets and timelines for project execution
  • Managing multi‑year project schedules and balancing priorities to meet targets
  • Interpreting and evaluating scientific data
  • Providing technical support throughout all project phases: conceptual design, due diligence, site characterization, monitoring, dewatering permitting, remediation design, regulatory reporting, procurement, and construction
  • Mentoring junior staff
  • Adhering to health and safety policies and executing work safely
  • Preparing or reviewing technical documents for regulatory agencies and private clients
  • Remote role with 10–20% travel
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Project Management, Environmental Engineering, or another science degree
  • 10–20 years of experience in project execution/management and personnel management in the environmental industry
  • Organizational and tracking skills to manage 30 projects or more over time, meeting deadlines and budgets
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and due diligence services
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time‑management and ability to handle multiple activities on an ongoing basis within deadlines
  • Ability to safely operate a company vehicle
  • Completion of 40‑hour OSHA‑HAZWOPER training and annual refreshers
  • Preferred certifications:
    Professional Geologist/Engineer, Licensed Asbestos Inspector, Asbestos Project Monitor, Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor, Indoor Air Quality Training
  • Experience in indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, or environmental compliance services is a plus
  • Must be from TN, AL, KY, or GA
Desired/Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing projects for government and private clients
  • Experience working in Georgia, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, and/or Kentucky geologic environments

Salary range: $90,000 to $130,000 annually, adjusted for experience, education, and location.
