Position Overview
We are looking for a Manager of Transmission Line Engineering to lead a dynamic team of engineers on high‑voltage electric transmission line design projects (overhead and underground) ranging from 34.5kV to 765kV for large and regional utilities. The role includes supervising staff, managing client relationships, proposal development, scope creation, and project management.
Responsibilities- Supervise and mentor a collaborative engineering team.
- Lead design, engineering analyses, and project management on high‑voltage transmission line projects.
- Prepare bidding documents, plans, specifications, and procurement/construction documents.
- Apply NESC, ASCE, ACI, NEC, and other applicable standards.
- Coordinate with project planning, environmental, permitting, and construction management teams.
- Utilize AI, automation, and digital design platforms to streamline grid modernization and increase design efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
- 12+ years of design experience for high‑voltage electric utility transmission systems.
- Professional Engineering registration in at least one U.S. state.
- Proficiency in PLS-CADD, POLE, TOWER, SAG
10, LPILE and/or FAD, and Microsoft Office. - 5+ years of supervising staff (preferable).
- MS degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
- Strong communication skills and business acumen with proven track record on project performance metrics.
This is a hybrid position with an office located in downtown Chicago, IL. The role may allow fully remote work for the right candidate, and relocation assistance will be provided for those able to relocate within a commutable distance to Chicago.
