We're looking for a Civil Engineer who is passionate about renewable energy and ready to play a key role in designing distributed solar and battery storage projects (2-20 MW) across the U.S.

What You'll Do

* Lead civil engineering design and scope development for distributed solar + storage projects

* Evaluate site feasibility including grading, drainage, stormwater, hydrology, geotechnical conditions, and site access

* Develop and refine site layouts and grading plans to maximize constructability, performance, and cost-efficiency

* Design drainage and stormwater management systems aligned with regulatory requirements and long-term site performance

* Plan and design access roads and utility routing for safe, efficient project execution

* Support foundation design for PV arrays and battery energy storage systems (BESS)

* Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, development, construction, and external partners

* Manage multiple projects simultaneously (typically 4-6 at a time) while maintaining high-quality deliverables

* Contribute to design reviews, best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives

* Communicate regularly with internal teams to keep projects aligned and moving forward

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited)

* 5+ years of civil engineering experience in land development, solar, or transmission/distribution

* Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D

* Experience with:

* Site layout & grading design

* Drainage and stormwater systems

* Road/access design

* Ability to evaluate site feasibility across civil disciplines (grading, drainage, hydrology, geotechnical, access)

* Strong multitasking ability across multiple active projects

* Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a remote environment

* Must reside in one of the following states:

* Illinois

* Virginia

* Minnesota

* Pennsylvania

* EIT or equivalent foundational engineering experience

Preferred Experience

* Civil design experience in renewable energy (solar, wind, or storage)

* Background in transmission or distribution projects

* Familiarity with land development processes for large-scale or distributed energy projects

* Experience working across the full project lifecycle

* Interest in growing within renewable energy and expanding technical expertise

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $55.29/hr.
