Senior Mechanical Engineer, Data Centers - Remote (U.S.)
Full-time position, Remote (U.S.). Compensation: $170,000 - $200,000 per year.
Role SummaryAECOM is seeking to hire a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer for the Data Center and Mission Critical team in the east region. The ideal candidate should be familiar with the tech sector and data center industry, understanding the requirements of scale, speed, and consistency in data centers. This role offers flexibility with a remote work schedule and can be based from a variety of U.S. locations where AECOM has an office.
Occasional travel may be required for client meetings and project milestones.
- Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design: Develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers.
- Cooling System Selection: Select appropriate air/water side cooling systems for data centers.
- Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis: Conduct internal and external CFD simulations to optimize airflow distribution.
- Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: Design HVAC systems with redundancy and fault-tolerant features to ensure continuous operation.
- Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning: Perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for data centers.
- Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Implement energy-efficient HVAC design strategies.
- Air Quality and Filtration: Design filtration systems and monitor air quality.
- Coordination with Electrical and Mechanical Systems: Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate systems.
- Bachelor's Degree with 8+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and education.
- Experience in data center mechanical and electrical equipment installation and operation.
- P.E. registration is required.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC engineering, or a related field; preference for a master’s degree or advanced coursework.
- Knowledge of data center TER Standard Topology as per Uptime Institute, TIA 942, ANSI/BICSI 002.
- Professional certifications related to HVAC engineering such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP), or LEED accreditation.
