Summary
The CRE Loan Closing Specialist Sr. leads the loan closing process for complex Commercial Real Estate transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion. This role manages due diligence, documents, and coordination with lenders, borrowers, legal teams, and external partners, while mitigating risks and maintaining high standards of risk management and quality assurance.
Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee and manage the entire commercial loan closing process.
- Provide leadership and guidance to deal teams, addressing issues and preventing escalation to management.
- Handle high-value, custom, and complex transactions, including construction, acquisition, bonds, tax credits, credit derivatives, participations, and syndication.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as Flood and OFAC, and industry standards like Construction Monitoring.
- Resolve complex lending issues, communicate risks, and drive corrective actions.
- Review pre‑closing items (flood determinations, insurance, title commitments) and coordinate with deal teams and counsel.
- Prepare closing statements, collect fees, and produce necessary forms for loan booking.
- Manage post‑closing items, collateral exceptions, and maintain accuracy of system records; work with Commercial Loan Servicing to resolve errors.
- Train and mentor junior loan closers, sharing best practices.
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency.
- Engage with clients, lenders, and legal teams to facilitate communication throughout closing stages.
- Assess and mitigate risks associated with commercial loan transactions, protecting institutional interests.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure documentation accuracy.
- Participate in strategic decision-making related to commercial loan operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 7+ years Commercial Loan Closing or Commercial Loan Administration experience
- Excellent communication skills with stakeholders, including lenders, borrowers, and internal teams.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accurate and policy‑compliant documentation.
- Strong time‑management capability to handle large, complex loan portfolios.
- Problem‑solving skills to proactively resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
- Collaborative attitude and commitment to excellent client service throughout the closing process.
- Technical proficiency with loan management software and related tools.
- Adaptability to changing procedures, regulations, and industry practices.
Exempt Status:
Yes (not eligible for overtime pay).
