Job OverviewA CRE Group Portfolio Manager (GPM) is responsible for managing a portfolio of CRE loans across all product types. The role includes reviewing analyst and AM modification/Annual Review drafts, reporting on the assigned portfolio, and managing internal and external reviews. Additional responsibilities involve overseeing risk management activities and ensuring consistent execution with CIBC’s risk culture.
Responsibilities- Work with offshore resources to complete portfolio reviews
- Provide leadership and training to junior employees
- Act as liaison between credit, line of business, and borrower
- Serve as front line risk manager for the credits
- Manage workflow and maintain an accurate pipeline of all opportunities in Salesforce, ensuring visibility to support teams
- Exercise credit approval authority (non-LPO) for certain credit products and processes up to approved limits
- Support Client Onboarding/Closing activities, acting as escalation point to resolve issues
- Engage with RMs, PMs and Associates to address issues or roadblocks, ensuring timely execution of PM activities
- Ensure reviews, renewals, and reporting are timely; oversee PMs to maintain accurate risk ratings; review all loan presentations before submission
- Act as primary representative of Group in portfolio review meetings, with knowledge on risk points such as concentration limits and portfolio mix
- Sign off on pricing grid reviews and remediate past‑due tickler report items
- Attend Loan Committee meetings on behalf of Group Head to understand potential risks
- Serve as Enhanced Oversight Officer (“EOO”) on all transactions rated 5W and worse
- Sign off on quarterly SOX controls
- Support preparation for Credit Review or FRB/FDIC/OSFI exams
- Ensure team readiness for CAMP and quarterly trend card/review meetings, including review of submission materials and Shared National credit exams
- Review all FAS 114 specific reserve/impairment materials prior to submission
- Coordinate manual data collection efforts for non‑automated situations
- Maintain direct client contact as required
- Ability to work collaboratively with RMs, Market Leads, and Group Heads to advise on deal structure, risk, and resources
- Experience in managing loan portfolio workflow and pipeline visibility in Salesforce
- Credit approval authority experience (non-LPO) up to approved limits
- Strong understanding of risk management processes and ability to ensure compliance with policies and controls
- Excellent communication skills; ability to lead, coach, and provide performance feedback
- Proven track record in managing performance, identifying obstacles, and aligning expectations with business priorities
- Demonstrated ability to create a positive work environment and model company values
- Organizational and analytical skills for reviewing complex financial data and reports
The position offers a competitive salary range of $175,000 – $220,000, potential eligibility for incentive compensation and discretionary bonus. The total rewards package includes Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and other insurance plans;
