The role is responsible for managing a portfolio of mid‑market business relationships with the team, as part of a training and development role designed for candidates interested in pursuing a career in Commercial Banking. The role utilizes diverse methods and skills to deliver excellence every day with consistently great technology and service, conducting client reviews to identify opportunities to further assist the client.
The role makes decisions on moderately complex issues, ensuring that the administrative processing of loan, credit or deposit accounts is completed, including signing authorities, non or negotiable securities, and any special arrangements. The role works with limited guidance to determine approaches to work projects, tracking and monitoring financial performance and preparing profitability reports as required.
We are seeking an Associate to join the Healthcare Lending team. This role supports portfolio management of the existing Healthcare Lending business, evaluation of new lending opportunities, market and industry research, and maintenance of strong client relationships. The successful candidate will have a post‑secondary degree in finance, business or a related field, strong analytical and organizational skills, and excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Prior experience in healthcare lending or commercial lending is considered an asset.

How You’ll Succeed- Analyze and opine on the financial statements of borrowers and prospects, evaluating their overall condition and viability using CIBC’s financial models.
- Engage with clients and prospects to collect routine information and address ongoing portfolio management requirements.
- Prepare loan presentations and credit approval documentation for all required credit actions.
- Complete risk analyses of borrowers and prospects using the CIBC risk rating model.
- Manage CIBC’s client relationship database for existing transactions and future prospects.
- Develop skills to appropriately structure deals including setting covenants and reporting requirements.
- Conduct market research comparing clients to local market peers.
- You have 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Commercial Banking
. - You have developed knowledge of regulatory expectations and industry best practices in risk management
. - You are a strong team player and able to work productively with colleagues towards common goals.
- You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- You are strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- You are results oriented with a high degree of attention to detail.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $75,000 - $90,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
