Position: Tax Support Specialist (Atlanta, GA)

Job Summary

As part of our holistic wealth management, Mercer Advisors’ in-house Income Tax team provides tax planning and preparation services to our HNW and UNHW clientele, including the completion of complex individual, small business, gift, and trust income tax returns. The Tax Support Specialist will be a critical team member in support of the tax practitioner team, ensuring the tax team delivers an exceptional client experience.

This role requires flexibility, excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to help the team succeed. The Tax Support Specialist is resourceful, proactive, and efficient while maintaining an approachable and professional presence to both internal teams and clients.

Essential Job Functions
  • Go-to for client facing and non-client facing administrative tasks related to tax, including maintaining client tax documents, assisting staff with workflow, assembling tax returns, and electronic filing of returns.
  • Comfortable using various reports to assist with managing workflow and monitoring data integrity.
  • Provide ongoing insight and suggestions for process improvement.
  • Work closely with the tax practitioner team and Manager, Tax Operations to ensure timely correspondence with internal teams and clients.
  • Communicate with clients in a timely and professional manner, ensuring a high-quality client experience.
  • Handle client invoicing for services provided.
  • Shipping, scanning, and assembling tax returns, and other client-related documents.
  • Assist with off‑peak tax season projects to optimize team performance and the client experience.
  • Other general administrative duties as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1+ years’ experience in an administrative or assistant role.
  • Experience or willingness to work with dynamic professionals.
  • Outstanding work ethic with a self‑starter attitude, ability to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, prioritize, and deliver multiple tasks on time.
  • Outstanding communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality with all matters.
  • Have a “can‑do” positive attitude and enjoy being part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi‑task in a busy environment.
  • Eager to become an expert in the position.
Work Schedule

This professional role requires availability during standard business hours of Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM, and Saturdays as needed during tax season. At times, the role may have early or late hours to meet business tasks and deadlines for external and internal client needs.

Working Conditions

This position may be in a professional office environment or a dedicated home office workspace that is free of interruptions. Whether the position is in a dedicated office space or a home office workspace, basic technology needs will be provided to satisfy position requirements. The role involves routinely sitting and standing for periods of time. No heavy lifting over 10 lbs.

Compensation

Actual base pay within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the applicant’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and licenses/certifications. This position is also eligible to earn incentive compensation through one of Mercer Advisors’ incentive compensation programs.

Base Pay Range
$31 - $36 USD
