The Mental Health Counselor is a full-time, hybrid role based in Arlington Heights, IL, with a mix of in-person sessions and some work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing individual, family, and group counseling; conducting intake assessments; and developing and implementing treatment plans tailored to client needs. The counselor will maintain clinical documentation, coordinate case management activities, and collaborate with other therapists and providers to support client care.
Additional tasks include participating in supervision and team meetings, engaging in continuing education, and contributing to program development and outreach efforts that align with Art Well Therapy Center’s expressive therapy model.
- Clinical expertise in mental health and psychology, including assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-informed interventions.
- Skills in treatment planning and case management to coordinate services and support client progress.
- Experience with relationship counseling, including work with couples, families, and interpersonal dynamics.
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field; active or eligible licensure in Illinois (e.g., LCPC, LCSW, LMFT) preferred.
- Training or strong interest in expressive therapies (e.g., art therapy, play therapy, somatic or mindfulness-based approaches).
- Ability to maintain ethical standards, protect client confidentiality, and work effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills, with comfort using telehealth platforms and electronic health records.
- Willingness to work a hybrid schedule with both in-person and remote sessions, including some evening or weekend hours as needed.
