Overview

Hazel Health is the nation's largest virtual provider of school-based healthcare services. Hazel partners with districts and health plans to deliver therapy and medical services virtually (in school or at home) to K-12 students, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay.

The Role

Pediatric Mental Health Therapist (IL License) — Remote — Full Time Evening — Summers Off. We are seeking Licensed Therapists who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of students and families. This is a virtual role providing quality mental health care to students within partner school districts.

Schedule:

This is a full-time W-2 position with summers off. The work week is Monday through Friday with standardized evening hours.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide virtual, high-quality, evidence-based mental health counseling and therapeutic interventions to an assigned caseload of K-12 students.
  • Conduct initial mental health intake assessments and create individual treatment plans as needed.
  • Perform clinical screeners and monitor ongoing student progress.
  • Collaborate with the care management team to ensure successful transitions into Hazel services and identify external transition supports.
  • Obtain credentialing and additional clinical state licenses as requested by Hazel’s licensing and credentialing teams.
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and other clinical activities; maintain timely and accurate documentation per guidelines.
  • Maintain minimum weekly availability and productivity levels as set by Clinical Leadership.
  • Provide telehealth crisis consultation for school partners or students as assigned.
  • Support mission and values of Hazel Health; demonstrate commitment to equitable access to care.
Qualifications
  • Required:

    Licensed without restrictions as a LCSW, LMFT, or LPC; licensed in Illinois and in the state where you reside.
  • Additional licenses in other states are desirable.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a school-based setting or with school-aged children.
  • Ability to obtain an acceptable FBI Criminal Background check upon hire.
  • Working knowledge of diagnosis and assessment practices, treatment strategies, and interventions for child mental health.
  • Telehealth experience preferred; strong technological skills and ability to learn new software.
  • Effective communication and collaboration across diverse backgrounds; strong organizational skills.
  • Willingness to gain licensure in other states as needed (Hazel-paid) and participate in Hazel credentialing process.
  • Spanish, Mandarin, Armenian, Russian, Korean, or Tagalog language skills are a strong plus.
  • Available for 10-month school-year employment (preferred).

Compensation & Benefits

Total compensation is market-competitive, with a base salary range of $73,800 - $82,800, plus 401k match, CEU allowance, healthcare coverage, paid time off, cross-licensure sponsorship (if eligible), and other benefits. See Hazel Health Benefits for details.

Locations:
Remote roles are available to candidates who maintain an active license in the state where services are provided and live or plan to live in one of the supported states. Currently supported states include AL, AZ, AR, CA, CO, DC, FL, GA, HI, IL, IN, IA, KY, LA, MD, MA, MN, MS, MO, MT, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OR, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA.
