Job Scope

The grants' goal is to reduce adolescent deaths from synthetic opioids by achieving the following objectives:

  • Increase engagement of adolescents, particularly those who may be less motivated to seek help, and their families or caregivers, in the system of care.
  • Increase access to evidence-based and innovative resources and programs, including harm reduction, treatment, and recovery supports, tailored for adolescents and their families.
  • Reduce barriers to retention for adolescents and their families in the system of care.

The position primarily entails providing recovery support services to youth and their families, conducting educational workshops and presentations, assisting with community outreach at community health fairs and festivals, and creating of content and resources for newsletters and social media.

The position is grant-funded and is subject to the availability of funds. The position is not a work-from-home position. A DCFS background check must be cleared to confirm a job offer for this position. Reliable, insured transportation is necessary for community outreach, presentations, meetings, and community engagement—ability to work in a fast-paced environment where objectives may pivot due to unforeseen circumstances.

Program Responsibilities

The responsibilities include:

  • Focus recovery support services, training, data collection, and client support services as assigned by the grant:
    Adolescents Navigating Change Health, and Ongoing Recovery (ANCHOR), and other grants assigned.
  • Work collaboratively within a team to utilize SAMHSA's Harm Reduction Model to plan and implement evidence-based and best-practice strategies for community sectors according to the annual work plan.
  • Work collaboratively with various community sectors (i.e, education, government, law enforcement, etc.) as determined by program requirements and community needs.
  • Research, develop, and evaluate an annual service plan in collaboration with the ANCHOR Team.
  • Plan, create, facilitate, and evaluate ongoing recovery support services for clients as outlined in the service design.
  • Assist with community outreach at community health fairs, festivals, and other events identified.
  • Collect data needed for ongoing program evaluation and assess community needs.
  • Provide clients with warm referrals for the services they need.
  • Support clients in eliminating barriers to accessing services (i.e., providing tech access, transportation, etc.).
  • Drive a 12-passenger van, or other KYC-owned vehicle.
  • Accurately collect quantitative and qualitative data for reports and other documents required by KYC or the funder.
  • Attend mandated training and workshops.
  • Meet with a supervisor as scheduled.
  • Participate in required and supplemental professional development opportunities.
  • Follow best practices as defined by the project's funder.
  • In compliance with grant rules, proactively plan and collaborate in all community efforts with other division projects with shared objectives for greater reach.
  • Participate in agency-wide meetings
  • Other duties as assigned.
