Regulatory Compliance Specialist, HR Generalist / Talent Management

Reporting to the Manager of Total Rewards, the Associate Principal, Benefits is responsible for the administration, processes, and controls of OCC’s benefit programs. This includes leave administration, health & wellness programs, benefits administration support, and benefits communication activities.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate, manage, and maintain the company’s well‑being programming to reduce health risk, medical costs, support DE&I initiatives, and encourage healthy lifestyles.
- Implement well‑being related activities, including annual wellness screenings, benefit fairs, flu shot program, lunch and learn sessions, fitness classes, and other related activities.
- Create employee communication materials for new or existing benefit programs and well‑being programming to provide continuing education.
- Maintain and update all documents and content on internal and vendor sites.
- Develop processes and execute initiatives to improve SharePoint site content navigation and increase awareness of the company’s benefit offerings.
- Monitor program utilization, identify trends, and recommend process improvements or program enhancements to the Manager of Total Rewards.
- Administer leave of absence, including Worker's Compensation, and advise employees and managers on LOA processes.
- Calculate eligibility regarding absences, FMLA, STD/LTD, and ADA.
- Coordinate with third‑party vendors to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, proper benefit deductions, and accurate tracking of leaves and disability.
- Identify compliance risks or process gaps and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with employees, managers, benefits broker, and vendors to ensure policies, laws, and processes are followed and benefits programming operates efficiently.
- Manage vendor relationships and hold partners accountable to service expectations; elevate performance issues as needed.
- Maintain full working knowledge of Workday HR processes and benefits‑related system activities to respond to employee inquiries and ensure accurate data management.
- Collaborate with Accounting/Payroll, Legal, and HR Business Partners as needed to support HR initiatives.
- Lead or contribute to Total Rewards projects, including vendor evaluations, system enhancements, and annual open enrollment planning and execution.
- Partner with the Manager of Total Rewards to identify trends, develop and drive process improvements, and implement new or enhanced benefits, absence management, or well‑being programming.
- Experience with self‑insured benefits administration; solid understanding of both health and retirement plans; 5+ years of experience in employee benefits, leave of absence, and wellness administration.
- Extremely perceptive and capable of relating to individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Achievement‑orientation with the ability to multi‑task and manage shifting priorities to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting employee benefits programs, including FMLA, ADA, ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, Section
125, workers’ compensation, DOL, and EEOC. - Ability to work independently and handle sensitive and confidential matters effectively.
- Working knowledge of HR processes and procedures.
- Teamwork and collaboration; capable of building strong working relationships.
- Strong situational awareness and ability to proactively identify the needs of business and HR teams and execute effectively.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- HRIS experience (Workday) – preferred.
- Experience with SharePoint – preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources (or equivalent), Business, or related field.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or comparable HR certification – preferred.
