The Workday Illuminate Consultant plays a key role in guiding clients through early‑stage Workday transformation activities using the Illuminate methodology. This position partners with Workday functional teams and client stakeholders to deliver strategic workshops, gather business requirements, document future‑state decisions, and ensure alignment throughout the design phase. The ideal candidate understands Workday capabilities, facilitates discussions effectively, and supports both the structure and execution of Illuminate deliverables.
Responsibilities will include:
- Assist in planning and delivering Illuminate workshops, including Foundation, Visioning, Future State, and Alignment sessions.
- Facilitate portions of workshops or lead breakout discussions as needed.
- Document workshop outcomes, decisions, risks, and dependencies in real time.
- Prepare meeting materials, agendas, playback decks, and follow-up communications.
- Partner with client stakeholders to identify goals, challenges, and priorities relating to Workday transformation.
- Translate business needs into high-level requirements aligned to Workday’s delivered solutions.
- Support the development of guiding principles, process priorities, and success metrics.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource to explain Workday capabilities in plain language.
- Collaborate closely with Workday functional leads to ensure Illuminate outputs inform solution design.
- Maintain documentation, trackers, and deliverables throughout the Illuminate workstream.
- Support readiness activities leading into configuration, including decision validation and scope alignment.
- Help identify risks, gaps, or misalignments and elevate them appropriately.
- Apply Workday methodology and Illuminate standards consistently.
- Help improve internal tools, templates, and assets to enhance delivery quality.
- Ensure clarity and consistency in all client‑facing materials.
This role can be performed from anywhere in the US and will require traveling based on business demand.
Required technical and professional expertise- 5+ years of experience supporting Workday implementations or HR technology projects.
- Understanding of Workday HCM fundamentals or specific modules (HCM, Talent, Absence, Compensation, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering, process documentation, or workshop facilitation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to synthesize information quickly and document decisions clearly.
- Experience with Workday Illuminate and/or Workday Certification.
- Prior consulting experience or exposure to cross‑functional project environments.
- Background in HR transformation, organizational design, or change management.
- Familiarity with Workday methodology and deployment lifecycle.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow‑through.
- Comfort presenting or speaking to groups in workshop settings.
- Ability to build trust with clients and teammates.
- Analytical mindset with a drive for problem‑solving.
- Workday Configuration:
Experience with advanced Workday configuration, including complex data imports, exports, and integrations, to meet unique client business needs. - Multi‑Module Expertise:
Experience with multiple Workday modules, including core HCM, core compensation, and other related modules, to provide comprehensive solutions to clients. - Industry‑Specific Knowledge:
Experience with industry‑specific regulations, laws, and best practices related to HCM and compensation, to provide tailored solutions to clients.
