Senior Business Systems Analyst
Join one of the nation's most comprehensive academic medical centers, UChicago Medicine, as a Senior Business Systems Analyst. This position will be primarily onsite with some opportunities for remote work. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.
In this vital role, you will act as the primary liaison between our clinical stakeholders (physicians, nurses, technicians, researchers, and administrators) and our technical teams. You will be responsible for analyzing complex clinical workflows, gathering requirements, and translating them into functional system specifications to optimize our clinical information systems. The Analyst will provide advanced (Tier
3) support for complex issues related to clinical applications, perform root–cause analysis, and coordinate with vendors or internal teams for resolution.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of healthcare clinical systems and their environments, a passion for problem‑solving, and a proven track record of leading system implementations and improvement projects from conception to completion.
Essential Job Functions- Elicit, analyze, and document complex clinical and business requirements.
- Devise plans and procedures to solve complex business problems given constraints.
- Revise existing (problematic) system logic or workflow.
- Evaluate clinical business implications of technology on the current environment.
- Mentor less experienced Business System Analysts.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant certification in healthcare, business management, or information systems.
- Minimum of four (4) years’ experience with information system software solutions.
- Strong understanding of clinical processes and workflow.
- Proven skills in troubleshooting, problem solving, and solution development.
- Experience with multiple clinical software applications, systems analysis/design, integration/design, clinical workflow/design, and business process/design.
- Develop system diagrams, data flow diagrams, and other visual representations to communicate system designs and functionalities.
- Solid skills in documenting and analyzing business processes.
- Solid understanding of underlying technologies: networking, medical devices, integration, EMR, server (on‑premises and cloud), database, and storage.
- Must be able to prioritize, organize, and assess work in order to meet aggressive deadlines and to cope in a fast‑paced environment.
- Capable of working well in a diverse, multi‑disciplinary team and successfully interacting with others at all levels of the organization, including remote teams.
- Must have issue tracking and resolution skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills.
- Experience developing presentations for project work.
- Ability to plan and facilitate meetings with internal and external participants.
- Ability to maintain a professional attitude and demeanor in both normal and pressure situations.

Compensation & Benefits OverviewUChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full‑time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and its respective union.
